20th Century Fox has handed out a July 26, 2013 release date for The Wolverine, the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine starring Hugh Jackman as the title character. The Wolverine will be going up against Phineas and Ferb and Dirty Dancing.

The release date falls in line with a report from August, which revealed that production will not start until spring 2012. An exact production start date has not been released yet, but it seems this superhero sequel is finally on the right track. James Mangold is directing The Wolverine from a script by Christopher McQuarrie, with Mark Bomback rewriting the draft.

In related news, Summit Entertainment will release I, Alex Cross on October 26, going up against Of Men and Mavericks and Halloween 3D. Matthew Fox, Tyler Perry, and Edward Burns star in I, Alex Cross, an adaptation of James Patterson's long-running novel series centering on detective Alex Cross.

20th Century Fox has also ditched plans to woo Valentine's Day lovers to its action-comedy This Means War, moving it from Tuesday, February 14, to the more conventional February 17 release date.

The Wolverine comes to theaters July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Famke Janssen, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima. The film is directed by James Mangold.

Alex Cross was released October 19th, 2012 and stars Rachel Nichols, Tyler Perry, Giancarlo Esposito, Matthew Fox, Jean Reno, Edward Burns, John C. McGinley, Carmen Ejogo. The film is directed by Rob Cohen.

This Means War was released February 17th, 2012 and stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Til Schweiger, Chelsea Handler, John Paul Ruttan, Abigail Spencer, Angela Bassett. The film is directed by McG.

This IS cool and all but what the hell happened to the dead pool movie there were a few articles on it last month and now nothing wtf? i think thats more important to fans than another 2 hours of Hugh Jackman with crazy hair and metal claws. and btw WOW i just saw the new spiderman trailer and was f*cking blown away by it the scope of that movie looks rediculous.

But @ROFLitschristian it's not overkill until they get it right, and I swear, this movie is going to get it right! After 3 X-Men movies and a cameo in First Class with a lackluster solo movie, i think this will be great :P

I'm going to say this and some of you may hate it. Can Hugh stop with Wolverine? I know he's perfect but can we get a short red neck that would go berserk and stop holding it back, the character is a killer that says very little.

This Means War will still have sneak previews on Tuesday. But it's not tracking near as well as The Vow so they bailed.

Nice. I hope that it is rated R. Sure a restrictedrating doesn't make a good film but it would be nice to see Wolverine in his true form with no boundaries. It would be a cool departure from the other films.

I'm excited. I just hope it's more a serious and less silly treatment of the character than in the first one (a film I didn't hate, but didn't love).

I know this may sound hypocritical due to my Wolverine avatar, but boy am I sick of Wolverine. Can we move on please. I mean Jackman plays the role so well, but is it really necessary for him to play the role for the SIXTH time!?
