The Weinstein Company (TWC) is pleased to announce that TWC has acquired from Michel Litvak's Bold Films the domestic rights to Bobby, the ensemble political-culture drama written and directed by Emilio Estevez, starring Anthony Hopkins, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Lindsay Lohan, Elijah Wood, William H. Macy, Helen Hunt, Christian Slater, Heather Graham, Laurence Fishburne, Freddy Rodriguez, Nick Cannon, Emilio Estevez, Martin Sheen, Shia LaBeouf, Jacob Vargas, Brian Geraghty, Joshua Jackson, Joy Bryant, Svetlana Metkina, Kip Pardue, David Krumholtz, Harry Belafonte and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. The announcement was made today by Harvey Weinstein, co-chairman of TWC and Agnes Mentre, head of acquisitions for TWC.

Currently in post-production the film is produced by Litvak, Edward Bass and Holly Wiersma and executive produced by Gary Michael Walters and Dan Grodnik. The project was brought to TWC by Michelle Krumm, executive vice president of acquisitions and co-productions for TWC.

Bobby revisits the night Robert F. Kennedy was gunned down at the Ambassador Hotel in 1968. Story is about how the lives of those at the hotel that evening intersected. Movie will take place against the backdrop of the cultural issues gripping the country at the time, including racism, sexual inequality and class differences.

"Bobby is one of those incredibly unique projects that gives you great insight in to the zeitgeist of this time in our country's history," said Weinstein. "It's a real credit to Estevez and Bold and their commitment to this project that attracted such a talented cast."

Bobby was released November 17th, 2006 and stars Harry Belafonte, Joy Bryant, Nick Cannon, Emilio Estevez, Laurence Fishburne, Brian Geraghty, Heather Graham, Anthony Hopkins. The film is directed by Emilio Estevez.
