The Twilight Zone finds a director in Matt Reeves
Directing The Twilight Zone was a gig coveted by many, but it seems Warner Bros. has finally whittled down their decision to just one man. Matt Reeves, the auteur behind Cloverfield and Let Me In, has been chosen to helm this latest entry in the long-standing franchise.

While previous incarnations of The Twilight Zone, including both the film and the various different versions of the television series, have all been anthology based. Jason Rothenberg's script for this reboot is a stand-alone big budget sci-fi action thriller that plays into the mythology of the original show.

Warner Bros. hopes to have Matt Reeves signed soon, and the script completely finished for a summer 2012 start date. The director is currently slated to helm This Dark Endeavor for Summit Entertainment and The Passage for Fox 2000. He also has a deal set up at Universal to direct 8 O'Clock in the Morning.

It isn't clear which of these projects will go into production first, but it's very clear that The Twilight Zone is a priority for Warner Bros., and it could take precedence over the other three movies currently on Matt Reeves slate.

The Twilight Zone is in development . The film is directed by Matt Reeves.

I still would have like Nolan behind the camera, but Reeves is still a fine choice. Besides, I'd like to see more original works from Nolan. Memento and Inception are my favorites of his filmography.

@k-man: Thanks for the list. All of those moves have the potential to be great.

The only director who may have been better, who was on the list of potentials, is Christopher Nolan. Matt is equally as good as David Yates and Alfonso Cuaron and a much better choice than Michael Bay or Rupert Wyatt. So, we are definitely in the clear on this one!

For the first time in a LONG time, I think studios are finally getting the point how important a good director is for a movie to be a CREATIVE success (which will lead to a bigger financial success)......instead of taking the cheap-ass, George Costanza route and hiring a sh*tting director so they can pay him less.

Think about all the highly anticipated films that are in production right now and then think about all the directors out there who are considered fanboy favorites. Then think about how many of those are tied to each other.

Finally, all is right in the movie world because every single extremely talented director is on a project that they SHOULD be on.

Ridley Scott: Prometheus & Blade Runner Sequel
Christopher Nolan: The Dark Knight Rises
Peter Jackson: The Hobbit: Part 1 & 2
J.J. Abrams: Star Trek 2 & Another mystery project
Steven Spielberg: Robopocalypse, Lincoln & War Horse (plus several others)
Guillermo Del Toro - Pacific Rim & (possibly) At the Mountains of Madness
Zack Snyder: The Man of Steel
Bryan Singer: Jack the Giant Killer & (rumors of) X-Men 4
Robert Zemeckis: Flight & Here There Be Monsters
    Neill Blomkamp: Elysium
Matt Reeves: The Twilight Zone & 3 others
    Alfonso Cuaron: Gravity
David Fincher: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo & 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Martin Scorsese - The Irishman & Silence
James Cameron: Avatar 2 & 3 (I'm not sure how good that is....but whatever)
    Sam Mendes: Jame Bond 23
    Marc Forster: World War Z
David Yates: Possibly The Stand & Cicero
    Darren Aronofsky: Noah

Have I forgot anyone? I'm sure I have....but still, look at all the films that will be coming out that will finally have great directors attached to them.

Sounds good, These r the kinda shows/movies that need a remake/rebot, not sumthing that came out a few yrs back. i think if its 40s 50s 60s 70s or sum 80s, then a reboot is needed, but not all of em. And it all depends on the direction they wanna take the new1. sumtimes they fail. to bring sumthing new, i hope they stick to wat we do know and just make those parts alil better thats it.
this1 would b a great1 but not for the summer, these damn directors that give us scary/thriller films keep giving it a date that doesnt fit well w the film.
I say that if its thrilling, or scary, it would b out in oct. not the summer, or the spring. like tron which came out in dec, lol wtf were they thinking? thats an aug-sept film in my book. oh then friday the 13th, came out like in feb, if i remember, ya cause it was on a friday the 13th, but i still say oct needs to b filled w horror, not summer or spring.

Awesome news. He is probably the best choice for this project, but then there's J.J Abrams. Either way, I'm really happy with this decision and am now looking forward to this.
