The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 grosses $700 million
Not only has the Twilight Saga's global fan base supported the films during their theatrical release, but audiences worldwide have continued to support this cultural phenomenon both on and off the screen. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, and VOD on February 11, 2012.
Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group Co-Chairmen Robert Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger stated: "The milestone is important on several fronts and illustrates the vitality of the franchise on a global scale even after four films. Stephenie Meyer's story and characters were brought to the screen this time via the talented hands of Bill Condon along with the cast and crew that has been with the film franchise since its inception. We are very proud of the success the franchise has experienced and anticipate the saga's conclusion this November."
The next chapter in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 will arrive in theatres on November 16, 2012. Academy Award winner Bill Condon directed both the first and second part of the two-part finale starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. The project, based on the fourth novel in author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, was written by Melissa Rosenberg with Wyck Godfrey, Karen Rosenfelt and Stephenie Meyer producing.
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 was released November 18th, 2011 and stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Anna Kendrick, Nikki Reed, Jackson Rathbone. The film is directed by Bill Condon.

I'll never understand Twilight fans. A good chunk of the ones I've ever heard from or read from tell me they acknowledge the movies are bad, yet they still like them. Why? Is it just that train wreck deal where you can't look away? If so, do me and others a favor and just see it on TV for free, so they stop making them.

@JennyL It's like a TV show but on the big screen and with great production values. What I mean by that is that if you took Smallville on the big screen, it would just go straight to Superman, skip all the romance and conversations and teenage drama to go to the action and special effects and villains. The Twilight Saga is a new kind of blockbuster that doesn't rely on the same formula as the typical Hollywood blockbuster. It's intriguing to follow like a TV series and can be very relatable.
Of course the story and characters aren't always great, I think Stephanie Meyer can be credited with developing something interesting but the way she did it is often pretty poor, and the cast and crew are better than a lot of the material so they often have to try and fix it but they can't always do that with Meyer looking over their shoulder constantly and the typical fans never wanting anything to change. Breaking Dawn Part 1 was pretty bad, it's the first Twilight film I've felt was so bad they had to apply a ton of polish on top of it to try and hide it, but I still hope Part 2 will be better.
