Hank Azaria wanted as Moe
Today, Hank Azaria has immerged as the front-runner to play nihilistic and abusive brother Moe, a role originated by Moe Howard. This proves that the Farrelly Brothers are casting as much on looks as they are on talent. Both Hank Azaria and Will Sasso are dead ringers for their characters.
Not so sure about Larry, though. At this time, James Marsden has immerged as the front-runner for Moe and Curly's curly haired, less attractive brother. Marsden will certainly have to ugly himself up for the role if he plans to be believable. Though, that should not be a problem for the actor, as the Farrelly Brothers are quite proficient at convincing high profile team players to lose a bit of their vanity in the name of comedy when it comes to their movies.
The Three Stooges is set to start production soon. Official casting announcements are expected sometime early next week.
The Three Stooges was released April 13th, 2012 and stars Sean Hayes, Will Sasso, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jane Lynch, SofĂa Vergara, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko, Stephen Collins. The film is directed by Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly.

I still think this will be a solid film just because of the Farrelly Brothers track record.

@geof36 MovieWeb is not the only website saying this now. There are multiple sources that have said even before MovieWeb that Will Sasso will play Curly and that they are looking at Hank Azaria and James Marsden.

This probably isn't even true. Movieweb wrote like 10 articles about the Farrelly brothers asking and signing Johnny Knoxville, but they never even talked to him about it.

@Kinetic: True, but I've yet to see him good in anything.
And regardless of whom they end up with, @thedude-abides is right. It'll suck, not so much for the humor or performances, but cuz we'll be reminded that the original guys on every weekend morning aren't there, and that it's lost its sense of genuine humor when its not from the age of vaudeville. It would have to be styled exactly as such. B&W even to not appear surreal in color. TCM had a bunch of reruns of Laurel & Hardy back in January, comprised of two or three 24hr marathons. Excellent vaudeville humor from the dawn of sound. Imagine trying to recapture that, to even remake it with the same sense of excitement and genuine intrigue. It's just not happening. And it's becoming more and more obvious with each news article.

@thedude1 U may be right. Personally, I think this movie is going to suck no matter who they get to play in it.

Hank Azaria would be another great choice for this movie but I am against James Marsden as Larry.
@thedude-abides Just because those three actors left the movie doesn't mean it will be any less good. Frankly Sean Penn and Del Toro in this movie would have been the biggest mistake they could have made.

Uh, Larry is not and was NEVER stated as being a brother.
He ALWAYS had a different last name...

@slysnide Wasn't his fault, Singer screwed up X-Men... I thought if he was given the chance, Marsden would've made a great Cyclops...

Wha-wait?! Marsden? That guy who played the wimpy Cyclops in the X-Men Trilogy???

Hank Azaria is good. Not the other.

I wonder if the sudden decline in the quality of actors surrounding this is any indication of the direction of the film itself. To go from Sean Penn, Jim Carey, and Benicio Del Toro to Will Sasso and Hank Azaria can't possibly be a good sign.
