    @insertusernamehere -- I still think it's a movie that's hard to love, personally.

    This film is NOT I REPEAT NOT A REMAKE IT IS A PREQUEL to JOHN CARPENTER's REmake of the 1956 film THE THING [from another world] all the CHARECTERS in this film DIE-to set up the film SEQUEL THE THING {1982} THEY [the film makers] Should have done a SEQUEL instead to the 1982 film......DUH!!!!!

    @XxNickTheFilmCriticXx Because I realize it's from the 1980s so it doesn't bother me.

    @insertusernamehere -- Really? The movie aged horribly! The gory scenes were hard to take seriously and a complete joke by todays' standards. The plot, cast and certain scenes I can appreciate, but I don't see how anyone could love it if its' their first-time viewing it in this day and age.

    @insertusernamehere i know what you mean when they have been saying this is about the Sorg base. As much as oi loathe prequels the original Thing is one of my fav movies so of course i cant wait. I love that Winstead looks very homely (like a scientist in the arctic would). she actually looks move sexy to me like that. but i know i know, i diverse.

    As long as the heart of the original remains intact i wll enjoy this prequel. The special effects look great but in a movie like this, where nobody knows who to trust its all going to come down on the actors shoulders. FX will only take a movie like this so far. That is what made Carpenters chilly vision such a cult classic. The interaction between the characters. It had a lot of heart.

    @insertusernamehere That's most likely one of the major problems.

    @draktyr Probably because sites like this call it a remake.

    Movie doesn't look all that bad, but it doesn't look all that great either. Maybe a rental. Or a last minute movie suggestion at the ticket booth.

    This actually looks pretty interesting. Still hoping its a prequel. John Carpenters version is one of my favorite horror movies.

    @insertusernamehere It IS a prequel. I have been trying to get my friends to acknowledge it as such, but even with me pointing out obvious things that happen that lead up to the 80's version, no one seems to believe me! :(

    Looking forward to this one! I just wish they would name it something else or just give it a subtitle to indicate it's a prequel, not a remake (The Thing, Part 1 maybe?)

    This isn't really a remake, though, is it? Looks more like a prequel. I think people will assume it's a remake based on the name, but by the looks of it, it's about the team that finds the creature originally in the ice before MacReady's team in Carpenter's film. Anyway, it could be good. I recently saw Carpenter's and loved it, so this has a lot to look up to. After seeing Warrior I'm now a fan of Edgerton. We'll see.
