...But really did we need a prequel!??! If U aregoing to do a prequel then do something more orginial.....not some shot for shot almost re-make of the film you are doing a prequel to!
Sitting through "The Thing" "prequel", I felt I had already seen the film before! Their was nothing new or fresh!
By time you get to the end of film, the whole film feels tedious !.

The Cover art is the same as the film poster!!!
The only difference between the DVD art and poster art is the DVD omits: "From Producers of Dawn of the Dead"....!

I think its wierd that you guys are comparing the 1982 version to the 2011 movie when the 2011 movie is a prequel. Its how it all started with the Norwegian camp first then heading to the American camp next. I thought this movie played off perfectly and made its connection to the 1982 movie seamlessly. If you were to watch the movie, or missed the scene during the credits you would know this prequel played off perfectly.

I actually fall on the side of liking this movie, it wasnt awful like the critics made it out to be, obviously Carpenter's version is better and Im still gonna watch this back-to-back

@moviegeek: That's not the real cover art. The top one just as the typical blu-ray banner on it, but not any signs of it being anything besides a poster and a blu-ray banner. The edges of the dvd picture are shopped in. You can tell from how digital the picture looks in comparison to the plastic edges.

No new cover and one speedy release date. Still not as bad (or good in my case) as when Tropic Thunder released in theatres in August and came to DVD in October.

@slysnide Seems reasonable to me.

....take your money and by the 1951 film, "The Thing from Another World"; or the John Carpenter film and skip this one

@ROFLitschristian: It made barely $4 million in its opening weekend. When that happens, studios typically wanna get the film out quick before moviegoers will completely forget about the film. The same thing happened to the "Poseidon Adventure" remake from 2006 which was released May 12th, and was out by around the same time that August.

@slysnide You guessed it would be out by December?

@TheFury Oops. You caught me. I started a sentence with 'and.'
Well at least I can spell the words 'you're' and 'seem'...

Also, notice all the technical data they wrote down to make it sound like there's more stuff on the BD.

Well, I said December, but I suppose February (close enough) is about right.

@RofL Please don't start sentences with 'And'. Lol. You see pretty dumb bringing up stuff like that. This isn't a presidential speech, dick licker.

@ghostman Oh my god. The first time I saw Carpenter's version I woke up from a nap and my grandfather was watching it. It was the scene where the guys head rips off and spreads legs. It was f*cking creepy. I was honestly kind of scared by it. XD

@TheFury For the hundredth time dipsh*t, IT"S SPELLED Y-O-U-'-R-E! You have got to be joking, right? And calling @ghostman a moron for having a certain likeness towards a film is stupid. In your words, "your a moron."

@mclovin Your a moron. This movie was trash.

It's a good rent @ROFLitschristian Just watch it once, forget about it, and return it :D It's more horror than suspense that the 1980's version was far more superior than this, watch that instead!

A film I would put on my: "Worst Film of 2011" list!!
A waste of money when I saw it in theater ....saw it mainly over curiosity....not a film I would pay up to $30.00 to own.......
"The Thing" got boring real fast!
Blu-ray/DVD Combo packs are such a waste ot have the same film on two different formats! I want one or the other not both!
