Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's parody of 'The Hunger Games' also pokes fun at 'The Avengers', 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Harry Potter'.

Maiara Walsh is set to star in Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's parody of The Hunger Games entitled The Starving Games.

The parody not only makes fun of Suzanne Collins' hit book series, but takes shots at Marvel's The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2. The actress will play the lead character Kantmiss Evershot with Pretty Little Liars actor Brant Daugherty portraying Liam Hemsworth's character Gale.

The directors are best known for their parodies including Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck. The Safran Company's Peter Safran is producing.

Production begins this week in New Orleans.

The Starving Games was released November 8th, 2013 and stars Maiara Walsh, Brant Daugherty, Alexandria Deberry, Nick Gomez, Cody Christian, Diedrich Bader, Lauren Bowles, Ashton Leigh. The film is directed by Jason Friedberg, Aaron Seltzer.

    Parody films of the last decade and a half are no where near as good as the ones in the late 1970's, 1980's and early 1990's with great ones like Airplane!, Spaceballs, HOT SHOTS!, Loaded Weapon, Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I'm not sure why that is and it's disappointing because if written and acted right they can be really good.
