AMC has released a new visual effects featurette for The Walking Dead, which continues Season 2 Sunday, February 26 at 9 PM ET with Episode 2.10: 18 Miles Out. Any fan of the show knows that the make-up effects for the zombies on this series are top-notch, but this video shows how CGI effects are used on the show, in rather interesting ways.

@ghostman Oh yeah. Rick's definitely becoming a deadly force to everyone, maybe even more so than Shane!

@ROFLitschristian YES! Episode 9 was awesome, seeing that look on Rick's face after Lori manipulated him into not trusting Shane (and possibly kill Shane) was great! Really show's how his character is shaping up to be the "shoot first, ask questions later" type of character he is from the comics :D

@ghostman Well I can tell you that Episode 9 was a step up. Hopefully the second half improves upon the first severely.

@ROFLitschristian I love Season 1, but after watching how Season 2 is shaping up to be, it seems like Season 1 rushed through with 6 episodes and didn't 'expand' on character development like Season 2 is. Sure the first half of S2 was all about finding Sophia, but the second half is about how the Sophia aftermath/Shane's meltdown effects the group. It may be the same to you :P but it's only going to get crazier once Season 3 starts! Watch tomorrow's episode, I'm sure you'll love it!!

@ghostman But you can't tell me that Season 2 has no where compared to Season 1. Maybe if more major things kept happening to them personally there'd be more interest, because let's face it, the last 6 episodes have been identical. Glenn and Maggie love each other but drive each other away, Dale sticks his nose in Shane and Andrea's business, Hershel doesn't want them there, and that's it. The only story line that seems to be evolving slightly is the one between Carol and Darrell, but that doesn't even have a lot going for it right now. Everything is the same week after week! DX

@diaigma I'm not sure about you getting a "complete anthology" but you can buy the Compendium One of The Walking Dead comics that feature the first 48 issues collecting 8 volumes. I got it for Christmas; best gift ever! Issue 95 comes out next week :)

@ROFLitschristian That the point, it's not about the zombies, it's about the characters and how their lives are effected (which cause some drama) that's the good stuff, but don't worry, Sunday's episode is sure to have loads of zombies in it!

@diaigma What do you mean? We've already seen the zombies breakout of the farmhouse?

  8. Diaigma

@ROFLitschristian - don't worry, dude. There's a farmhouse. If you know your zombie tropes, you know what will happen eventually when there's a farmhouse involved (and when it happens, people are going to freak).

@ghostman - some of it. I'm aiming at getting the complete anthology.

Is it just me guys, or has Season 2 been really lackluster? I just find myself being disappointed by every episode. For the first half of the season they were repeating everything from the week before. For the past 6 episodes all we've seen are Dale hating Shane, Shane being a dick, and something revolving around either Carl or Sophia. To me it's starting to become a drama with "horror" mixed in rather than the horror show it was to start out.

@ghostman Yeah, not even a show as popular as The Walking Dead can afford that many extras.

@diaigma Correct! i hate it when i read Facebook comments about "this show is boring, i want zombies" and "more zombies, less drama!" people don't understand how it's about the characters NOT the zombie kills, like you said, hopefully this will get them to understand. Just a question: Have you read the comics?

@ghostman - Hundreds of extras with make-up? Not on a TV show budget (hopefully now people will appreciate how tricky it is to film this show instead of demanding a grody zombie kill every five minutes) :P

@diaigma Well i knew the city shots of Atlanta and the view of the land with Rick and Hershel were green screen shots but i didn't know they had that many CG zombies put into the scenes! i thought those were all extras.
