The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Sequel in Production

A sequel to the 2005 film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has been thrown into production by Alcon and Warner Brothers this week, according to Variety. The new film will be based on "Forever in Blue", the fourth and final chapter in the Pants anthology series of novels by Ann Brashares.

The entire ensemble cast from the first film, which includes America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls), and Blake Lively, is suspected to come back. Sanaa Hamri will direct. This will be her second feature film. Her first, Something New, a romantic comedy about race relations, was a modest hit for Focus Features in 2006.

Co-Screenwriter of the original "Sisterhood" film, Elizabeth Chandler will be tackling the script for this second installment. The film will revolve around "one last glorious" summer for the four girls we've come to know and love. The main plot will focus on new love interests, breakups, makeups, and that most classic element of any coming of age story...The loss of virginity.

Production is set for a June 3rd start date in Greece. The production will then move to New York and Connecticut.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was released June 1st, 2005 and stars Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, Blake Lively, Jenna Boyd, Bradley Whitford, Nancy Travis, Rachel Ticotin. The film is directed by Ken Kwapis.
