The Simpsons Seals Deal with Fox
According to Variety, production on the show has been delayed for several months as voice actors and 20th Century Fox TV hammered out a deal. The new pact bumps the stars' salaries up to about $400,000 an episode; they previously made somewhere in the mid-$300,000 range.
The deal was firmed up over the weekend, and means most of the key cast members -- Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart), Yeardley Smith (Lisa), Hank Azaria (Moe) and Harry Shearer (Mr. Burns) -- will be back to work and attending the show's first table read of the season this morning.
As part of his deal, Castellaneta has been named consulting producer on the series. He'll now serve as a writer in addition to continuing as a voice performer.
Although the voice actors are now locked through the next four years, it doesn't necessarily mean The Simpsons will be back beyond season 20. Gracie Films' deal with 20th expires at the end of this season, and Fox hasn't renewed the show beyond this upcoming year.

Strangely, I seem to care that "The Simpsons" could be discontinued, cuz I've only seen 100+ episodes at the most, so it's not like they'll make another 200+ before they quit the series (which is in the range of how many I've yet to see).
I remember back when Fox advertised their 300th episode, but that was years ago. So there's gotta be tons more by now. And I haven't been watching them in order, I'll just see one here and there. It's nice that Costco charges so cheaply for the season releases: just $20, which means that they should be even cheaper at www.deepdiscountdvds.com, though I don't know if that's NECESSARILY true, (I think I wrote the website's name right).
Either way, I'd love to see what happens on the final episode of the longest running sitcom!!! Who could resist that? Whether they like the series or not!

Eventually it's gonna stop. Rumours were floating that the last episode would be Homer getting a heart attack (for real) and would die. But that's just rumours....I can see another 4 years up the road but after that, I dont know...It's been around for so long. It's gonna be hard to see no new Simpsons anymore....
