The Runaways Tear It Up in Their First Trailer

Kristin Stewart is following up her hugely successful Twilight run at the box office with the musical biopic The Runaways. Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi and co-starring Dakota Fanning, the film follows Joan Jett and her all-girl band The Runaways. The first trailer for the film comes courtesy of MTV, and you can check it out by clicking on the clip below:

Twilight star Kristen Stewart is Joan Jett in The Runaways, the rock 'n' roll biopic of the 1970s band who were hugely influential as the first successful all-girl hard rock act in America. Its members included guitarists Jett and Lita Ford, drummer Sandy West, singer-keyboardist Cherie Currie and bassist Jackie Fox. The band was brought together in late 1975 by impresario Kim Fowley, who thought a novelty act of teenaged girls performing in leather and lace would be an easy sell, but the girls ended up proving to be serious and influential musicians with songs like "Cherry Bomb." The band lasted about four years together, falling apart over management and money issues. Directed by Floria Sigismondi and co-starring Dakota Fanning, Scout Taylor-Compton, Stella Maeve, Alessandra Torresani, Hannah Marks, and Brett Cullen, the film is set to make a splash on March 19th, 2010.

The Runaways was released March 19th, 2010 and stars Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Michael Shannon, Stella Maeve, Scout Taylor-Compton, Alia Shawkat, Riley Keough, Johnny Lewis. The film is directed by Floria Sigismondi.

    The only thing I that comes to mind when i see this trailer is all the little mindless gothic wannabe girls watching this movie and suddenly wanting to switch over to wannabe punk rockers. Funny thing is it wont be that hard, all they'll have to do is go from one isle at Hot Topic to another.
