The Rock Lands on Planet 51

Dwayne The Rock Johnson has signed on to voice the lead character in the CG-animated science fiction tale Planet 51. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Long, Jessica Biel and Seann William Scott will round out the cast.

The film is set on Planet 51, whose inhabitants live in fear of an alien invasion. Their paranoia is realized when astronaut Capt. Charles "Chuck" Baker (Johnson) arrives from Earth. Befriended by a young resident, the astronaut has to avoid capture in order to recover his spaceship and return home. Along the way, he pals up with Lem (Long) and Lem's love interest, Neera (Biel). Scott will play Lem's partner, Skiff.

Jorge Blanco will helm this New Line feature. Planet 51 has a July 24, 2009 release date.
