Portions of the sequel to "The Ring," starring Naomi Watts, will be filmed right here in Oregon. The Oregon Film and Video Office said today the movie would be filmed in Astoria.
Officials say Astoria was chosen because it captured the mood of the psychological thriller.
Other films shot all or partly in the coastal town include "Goonies," "Short Circuit," and "Kindergarten Cop." Production on "The Ring II" is set to begin in May.

The Ring Two was released March 18th, 2005 and stars Naomi Watts, Simon Baker, David Dorfman, Elizabeth Perkins, Gary Cole, Sissy Spacek, Ryan Merriman, Emily VanCamp. The film is directed by Hideo Nakata.
