The Polar Express DVD hops on the holiday slate

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the fourth-quarter DVD derby is off and running, with Warner Home Video announcing one of the first major releases of the holiday selling season: The Polar Express, slated for Nov. 22 release.

The animated Christmas film, with executive producer Tom Hanks as one of the lead voice talents, grossed nearly $163 million at the boxoffice during its domestic theatrical run during the 2004 holiday season.

Warner is giving The Polar Express the full DVD VIP treatment, releasing the film in a two-disc special edition that includes such extras as a never-before-seen Smokey and Steamer song, a Polar Express challenge for kids, a featurette on the technology used to create the film, a documentary on the characters voiced by Hanks and a performance of the film's Oscar-nominated song, Believe, by Josh Groban at the Greek Theatre.

The Polar Express was released November 10th, 2004 and stars Tom Hanks, Leslie Zemeckis, Eddie Deezen, Nona Gaye, Peter Scolari, Andy Pellick, Josh Eli, Mark Mendonca. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis.
