Movie PictureAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Imax Corp. said that Warner Bros. Pictures' The Polar Express will be rereleased on its giant-screen theaters in November. In a statement Friday, Warners domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman said that the CG-animated film, which stars Tom Hanks, generated impressive boxoffice in November and could become a perennial pre-Christmas 3-D movie for Imax.

"We were especially impressed with the legs of the Imax DMR version, as it was selling out shows and packing Imax theaters weeks into the new year," Fellman said. In discussing the company's first-quarter results with financial analysts Thursday, Imax co-CEO Bradley Wechsler predicted that the second Imax run for The Polar Express also could fuel the pre-Christmas DVD release for the Robert Zemeckis-helmed holiday movie.

Express portrays a doubting young boy who takes a train ride to the North Pole that becomes a journey of self-discovery. First released in November, Express established records for a digitally remastered Hollywood film in the giant-screen format.

The 3-D version has grossed about $45 million to date, with a cumulative per-screen average of more than $520,000.

The Polar Express was released November 10th, 2004 and stars Tom Hanks, Leslie Zemeckis, Eddie Deezen, Nona Gaye, Peter Scolari, Andy Pellick, Josh Eli, Mark Mendonca. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis.
