The Passage gets screenwriter Jason D. Keller
The Passage is based on the best-selling novel by Justin Cronin, which centers on a scientific experiment gone horribly awry that unleashes a new breed of vampires on society. These are no ordinary vampires either, since they also have the ability to read minds.
John Logan wrote the original adaptation before Matt Reeves came on board. 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to The Passage back in 2007, two years before the novel was published in 2009. The Passage is the first novel in a planned trilogy by Justin Cronin.
Ridley Scott will executive produce The Passage through his Scott Free Films banner. No production schedule was given.
Jason D. Keller wrote the upcoming Machine Gun Preacher along with Relativity Media's Untitled Snow White Project.
The Passage comes to theaters in 2012. The film is directed by Matt Reeves.

The book is so great! I'm really looking forward to this movie. I really hope that the movie will also be great and become a great franchise with the sequels of the next upcoming books...

It has the potential to be a very good film but, needless to say, I really hope they do it right. The bulk of the story is about the First Colony, about two thirds of the book. However, the first third of the book is very important. It could be a movie in itself actually. So they can't rush through that part. Amy's origin, Brad Wolgast's story, and the story behind some of the original virals all have to be told.

With Reeves and Scott on this, this could be good.
