The New World Release Date Gets Pushed

According to Variety, New Line has pushed back historical epic The New World from its planned November 9th release date to a Christmas limited bow and a January 13 wide release.

The distrib prexy David Tuckerman said change was made because the film "won't be done in time" for a November 9th launch.

The pic, starring Colin Farrell and helmed by Terrence Malick, is getting a big kudos push from New Line, and the Gotham and L.A. holiday bow will qualify it for Acad consideration.

The New World was released December 25th, 2005 and stars Colin Farrell, Q'orianka Kilcher, Christopher Plummer, Christian Bale, August Schellenberg, Wes Studi, David Thewlis, Yorick van Wageningen. The film is directed by Terrence Malick.
