In more surprising news, Daddy Day Care, the new Eddie Murphy comedy about an inept dad who starts a day care business, had a strong opening weekend, hauling in an estimated $27.6 million. The movie was chastised by critics (28 positive reviews out of 95 on www.rottentomatoes.com) but posted a solid $8,189 per screen average, showing in 3,370 theaters.

X2: X-Men United was released May 2nd, 2003 and stars Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, James Marsden, Anna Paquin, Rebecca Romijn. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.
