'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' Adds Aidan Turner and CCH Pounder

The actors will play Luke Garroway and Madame Dorthea in this fantasy adaptation about a young woman who comes from a long line of demon hunters.

Actors Aidan Turner and CCH Pounder have joined the fantasy adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones for director Harald Zwart and Constantin Film.

Aidan Turner (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) will play Luke Garroway, the surrogate father to the protagonist Clary Fray (Lily Collins). CCH Pounder (Avatar) portrays Madame Dorthea, a witch who is Clary's downstairs neighbor in New York City. The story centers on Clary, a young woman who learns she comes from a long line of demon hunters.

They join a cast that also includes Jamie Campbell Bower, Jemima West, Kevin Durand, Robert Maillet, Robert Sheehan, Lena Headey, and Jared Harris.

Harald Zwart is directing from a screenplay by Jessica Postigo Paquette and I. Marlene King, adapted from the novel by Cassandra Clare. Production will begin next month in Toronto.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was released August 21st, 2013 and stars Aidan Turner, Lena Headey, Lily Collins, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Robert Sheehan, Jamie Campbell Bower, Kevin Durand, Kevin Zegers. The film is directed by Harald Zwart.

    I've heard that this is a great book series, and I plan on reading it eventually. I'm looking forward to the film adaptation the same way I did The Hunger Games: with curious anticipation.
