The Moon Princess Is Next for Director Gabor Csupo

Hot off the heels of his successful theatrical adaptation Bridge to Terabithia, director Gabor Csupo has decided to tackle the contemporary children's novel The Little White Horse for his next project. It will follow in Terabithia's footsteps; also falling into the live-action family fantasy genre. Csupo calls it, "An absolutely beautiful, dark and mysterious story."

Retitled The Moon Princes, the film will follow the adventures of a 13-year-old girl as she attempts to banish an evil curse from the magical world in which the novel is set. Shooting is likely to start this summer in the U.K. and Hungry.

Colin Firth is the first cast member announced, starring as the girl's weird, yet wonderfully helpful uncle. No other cast members have yet to sign on.

The Moon Princes is being produced by the U.K.'s Spice Factory, Forgan-Smith Entertainment and Csupo's own Grand Allure Entertainment. Csupo is the co-founder of the animation studio Klasky Csupo and producer of Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys. McDonald's enthusiasts may also remember a series of video programs he produced for the fast food chain as promotional giveaways. His directorial film debut came with Walden Media's Bridge to Terabithia.

The film has grossed $75 million in the U.S. alone. The picture is currently premiering in other parts of the World.

A release date for The Moon Princess has not yet been finalized. Look for it sometime in early 2008.

Bridge to Terabithia was released February 16th, 2007 and stars Josh Hutcherson, AnnaSophia Robb, Zooey Deschanel, Robert Patrick, Bailee Madison, Kate Butler, Devon Wood, Emma Fenton. The film is directed by Gabor Csupo.
