Vin Diesel's The Machine gets writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar
We first reported on the project last May, when MGM picked up the script by Reno 911! creators Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, for Vin Diesel to star in and produce. The story centers on a humanized robot that the government created, in hopes it would become the country's ultimate weapon. The project was shut down and the robot buried for 20 years, until a young boy discovers and reactivates it. When the feds try to shut it down again, The Machine must protect the family that took him in.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar also wrote the screenplays for Shanghai Noon, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and last year's I Am Number Four. No production schedule was released.
The Machine is in development and stars Vin Diesel. The film is directed by Adam Shankman.
