lol Diaigma there, are, its slated to be a trilogy, obviously you know that, i'd actually have to slap myself if you didn't know that and so will the rest of Movieweb.

Complete budget for all 3 films = 350million USD, i'll reckon it get a boost to maybe 390 - 400 million, thus allowing a estimated max budget of 130 million per film.

But i guess we have to see.

Ahhhhhh so its you that has been calling me at 4am saying you want me, isn't it mmmmm mmmm.

Ok so can we say that Peter Jackson is a lover of Blue Eyes, considering most of the cast had blue eyes.
So Peter jackson must be racist against brown eyes and green eyes.
I knew it the chubby chaser.

A colour is a colour, a race is a race thou shouldn't not divide a nation by the colour of a individual's skin are from where they are raised.

    Your arguing about casting decision.

Oh by the way, how many Asians have blue eyes, which is a European trait. Any one can live in an Asian home and surround themselves with an Asian life style but Asian do not have blue eyes. The more I look, the more I see a flaw in your argument.

This is a teaser. I can promise you, most (if not all) of what you just saw will NOT make it into the movie. It is meant to tease and introduce people to the story who haven't a clue what Avatar is.

Can you name me some teasers that represent the finished product accurately? I can't. Ex: The rat in Ratatouille running in the restaurant holding that cheese from the cart? That was in the teaser, never made it into the movie. I can list several more :P

I didn't mean to sound so flamed back there, carrock12, and I'm glad to hear that you won't see the film at all, given your stance. That's how it's done. However, you should know that myself and many other moviewebers are well aware of your stance and the issue at hand. Quite frankly, lots of us, and myself, simply do not see the injustice that you are seeing. If fact, the entire cast looks more diverse than most American films that I can recall. And please don't think of pinning white-privilege on me, as so many have done. I may be white, but I'm in no way privileged, given my Irish background. My grandparents, parents, and myself know what it's like to be discriminated against, for being Irish...even to this day...even though we are WHITE. Doesn't help growing up in LA where, in my demographic, white was the minority.

Look. We are movie fans. We like movies. This has always been a site dedicated to movie goers (there is the TV aspect, but, who really goes there? :P) So, asking us to not see a movie is, well, simply heresy at this place. We don't mind if people say that they will see a movie or not (like lilazndevilx). It happens all the time for many reasons, but nobody here flat out invites people to avoid a movie. In other words, we don't appreciate solicitation (=s SPAM). Especially twice...

I have been to Racebending and read through the site thoroughly a long time ago and again just now. You need an update :) It is well set up; however, there are some things that make me question the internal ethics of the organization, like this comment on the invitation to sign the petition...

"Ask your parents, your siblings, your friends, your teachers, classmates, and that creepy guy who likes you even though you're not interested."

Ouch! That last part was rather insensitive. "I don't like you, but will you sign this anyway?" Is Racebending willing to manipulate people to get their goals met? Well, I hope that's not the case.

Furthermore, I am glad to see that you and others in the racebending movement have such a passion for doing what you think is right (which may include stealing by sneaking into a theater). However, I think you can do more. You are raising funds for MANAA through selling Tee-shirts, but, that and petition signing and boycotting is simply not enough. You need to invite them to grab their money that they otherwise would have spent on the movie and donate it to MANAA. If everyone in Racebending did that, you would have 80k bucks. To Hollywood, that's pocket change, but to MANAA, that can really boost their organization. Money talks.

As of now, the facebook annex of Racebending has 3,310 members collected since it started in the beginning of this year. Nice number. The official TLA facebook fan page went up yesterday morning and has collected 1,000 members IN ONE DAY, and that's BEFORE the trailer was shown in theaters. I'm curious to see what the numbers will be after the weekend is over. And I'm VERY surprised by how DIVERSE the 1,000 members are. I'm not saying this to put Racebending down, just to help them be aware of what's coming, to help them reach their goals.

Well, I could debate all day on this. I have been on the net about this movie since it was first announced last year, but, do I REALLY need to go over the stuff that I've said a hundred times in other places--again? If people do not accept your invitation or negatively comment back to you (which isn't my thing, personally), please don't say that we are turning a blind eye. Quite frankly, I would not mind an Asian LOTR or an African HP. If someone is willing to produce it, I'll give it a shot, and judge the film based on its work, skill, craft, story, and emotional evokeness, as a good movie should. Like I have said, I will never reject people because of their skin color. I will not reject Noah Ringer as AANG because he is white (and half Asian). It's really too bad that a lot of people can't think this way. Being bigotory about a film doesn't help.

There is a chance that I will be disappointed with TLA too. At least I will have my DVDs to go back on if that is the case. I will ignore TLA's existence if it turns out rotten. Just as I have with the last two Mummys and the last two Pirates (terrible movies!)

Ah Oh! TLA facebook fan page went up another 300 since I started writing this comment :P

Well, that was rather long winded. Maybe my longest comment yet.

I love how only people fight for injustices done to their own people, which why this world is such sad a shape. We are only looking out for our own and not each other. I am sorry that the cast isn't Asian, that must come as a blow to the Asian community out there but come on if you are going to fight for Asian fight for every other race out there that is trampled by this blight.

Does it really matter if the characters are Asian but played by whites or Indians?...just say they're Asian and it's all good. I don't think anyone would notice unless they did they're homework, like carrock did.

If an Indian played someone like Captain America, yeah, I'd have a problem with that, but I think Indians can get away with playing Asians because of the skin color. It's true.

I think the people who say they don't see race are pretty stupid. "I see a person." That's a load of sh*t. You're not a racist if you notice skin color, you're a racist if you reject that skin color before getting to know that person. Chill, guys.

I think there might be some confusion as to why Carrock thinks this movie is racist. Carrock and others like him don't find the actors' skin colors racist but the casting process.
First off, many people don't believe the characters are Asian (East Asian to be exact) and Inuit but I personally do. My belief isn't based on how the characters are drawn because carton and anime characters are supposed to be ambiguous, their races were implied by their surroundings and cultures (ex. buildings, clothes, food). Since the characters are Asians/Inuits, it would only make sense to cast Asians/Inuit actors.
This is where casting comes in. It's completely reasonable to not have an all-Asian cast, but it's extremely questionable to have an all-Caucasian cast(All for leads were Caucasian at first, but Jesse McCartnet backed out after backlash and was replaced by Patel). The only open casting for the main characters was Aang, and I wouldn't mind if the actor was chosen because of his superior acting but we don't know that's the case especially since Noah (Aang) has no prior acting experience. Plus, I find it hard to believe that out of all the Asians who auditioned, they could find ONE single Asian actor capable of acting. Why is it assumed that the acting would have been bad if the actor was Asian? The 3 other mains (Sokka, Katara, and Zuko) were all HAND PICKED, there were no open castings so how would Paramount know there weren't better Asian/Inuit actors when they were never given a chance to begin with. That itself is just discriminatory, but the casting sheets prove how racist they were. For the main roles, the casting sheets read "Caucasian or any other ethnicity" and proves that Paramount didn't want Asians.

This may seem trivial but the issue is about more than just a movie because Hollywood has been using this practice of overlooking Asians, using Asian cultures but not Asian actors, and using non-Asians to play Asian roles for ages. Hollywood needs to stop this practice, and this movie is just one step to make Hollywood realize what they're doing is wrong.

I don't believe the casting choices were made based on personal racial discriminations nor do I think that Paramount's trying to say "eff you" to Asian and Inuit actors. Their decisions were made based on their belief that Asians aren't bankable, and that no one would pay to watch a movie with an Asian lead. But although their decisions were based on money, that doesn't make their actions any less wrong.

To Messenger, I wish I could answer your argument about Caucasian roles being played by other races but I don't have much knowledge about that. The only thing I know is that the upcoming Prince of Persia movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal and I agree that it's wrong.

I too plan on boycotting this film and I hope you do too, but that is your choice and it's not my right to tell you what to do. I am not trying to preach, troll, spam or anything. Just like Carrock, I just wanted to inform those who didn't know of this controversy so they can make an informed decision. If anyone would like more info, please feel free to check out the racebending site or go to IMDB and type in The Last Airbender to go to the forum. Or feel free to write your arguments here and I would love to try to answer them with a polite and mature response.
