The Last Airbender moves up to July 1

The producer also revealed that they recently held the first screening for The Last Airbender which apparently went well, which could be a reason for the one-day push for the film's release.

The Last Airbender was released July 1st, 2010 and stars Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel, Cliff Curtis, Nicola Peltz, Randall Duk Kim, Jessica Andres, Noah Ringer, Seychelle Gabriel. The film is directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

I actually just started watching the show on Nicktoons over the past few weeks(They've been marathoning the sh*t out of it). I've got to say that this movie has gone from being nothing to something of great interest. Although I won't see the movie for a few weeks, probably after I see Inception, I will see it in the hopes that it matches the greatness of the material it's based on.
As for all the people that are cracking on the movie because of Shyamalan, just know that this isn't like any of his other work. In his previous movies, Shyamalan created the world and stories that went with it. In Airbender, he's following a source that he did not create, and by all reports has remained faithful to the material. There won't be any goofy twists at the end of this movie.

@Mrman3810, just curious, when did he claim he wrote the story for The Last Airbender? He did write the script, so he is the writer of the movie, but I haven't seen anything where he said he wrote the story.

@guidotkp3, who cares? Toy Story 3 will have lost a lot of it's steam after being released for 2 weeks prior. 3rd for the weekend is the dumbest comment you've made. Toy Story 3 might be the better film overall but I seriously doubt considering the the numbers given through research and numbers of past Pixar films including Toy Story 2 counting inflation into the scenario and then adding some numbers as well that Toy Story 3 will take out Airbender during it's opening week. You may not care for the film but like it or not, if you look at the polls for the year it's one of the most anticipated behind Inception, Toy Story 3, Iron Man 2, and Eclipse.

Well I agree that this fad will fade to, I'm not all for 3D either, and I agree that it should be for unique films. If you've seen the TV show you'd probably think it's a unique story where 3D could benefit it. Now with the film not being shot in 3D I agree as well to an extent. If you've filmed the movie to be converted than I'm ok with the conversion, now with Airbender that's what they did, Clash just added it for the extra coin. Don't forget you have the choice to see the movie in 2D. Now with the fact that Shymalan is directing isn't much of a reason not to see this movie. I'm not a die hard Shymalan fan but you can't deny that he is a very good story teller, only problem is the stories he's been telling are crap. Airbender isn't his story, the way this story is set up makes it similar to the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the Chronicles of Narnia. If you've seen the show you know exactly what I'm talking about. The reason I have hope that the story will remain as good as it was is because the creators of the TV show were involved with the process of the making of the film. I'm just saying give the film a chance, I'm positive you'll end up being surprised.

@guidotkkp3, first off Clash of the Titans was an unnecessary conversion that was done only yo make money, Airbender on the other hand had been looking into 3D for many months before converting, that's why the release date didn't change, plus this film has a lot of visual effects unlike Clash so that will transfer nicely to 3D. Now whether this film makes it to #1 or not is irrelevant, it can still make loads of money while not reaching #1 on a weekend. This film has a huge fanbase and plenty of people are excited for it. Mark my words, this film WILL work. Hands down.

They've got guts putting this up against Eclipse, that film is absolutely guaranteed to be a box office success, and they wanna battle Airbender out against it. I will be there opening night at the midnight showing no matter what!

Okay, I'm happy and a bit upset at this news. Now Airbender has to go against Twilight Saga: Eclipse after it's been released for 1 day instead of 2 days, which could hurt the movie in making more money. I'm still glad though cause I get to see it earlier than I had planned. GO AIRBENDER!!!!
