The Incredibles leads the box office
But the success of The Incredibles was in stark contrast to the muted opening weekend of Warner Bros. Pictures' The Polar Express, a groundbreaking performance-capture computer animated film featuring Tom Hanks, which debuted in the second spot with a disappointing estimate of $23.5 million.
The Robert Zemeckis-helmed film, based on the book by Chris Van Allsburg, has taken in around $30.8 million since its release Wednesday. Of the three big animated year-end holiday pictures aimed at the family audience, The Polar Express was by far the most expensive, with a reported $170 million budget. And unlike the "Incredibles," which was met with overwhelmingly positive reviews, the reviews on The Polar Express have been mixed.
The Incredibles was released November 5th, 2004 and stars Craig T. Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson, Jason Lee, Dominique Louis, Teddy Newton, Jean Sincere, Eli Fucile. The film is directed by Brad Bird.
