The Hulk to Get Stand-Alone Reboot in 2015

Mark Ruffalo's The Hulk will get a stand-alone reboot in 2015
Marvel's The Avengers is already making waves at the box office, taking in an impressive $18.7 million from midnight screenings. Mark Ruffalo is the new addition to Marvel's superhero lineup, portraying The Incredible Hulk, and it seems the studio already has plans for a new Hulk reboot in 2015.

Paul Gitter, Marvel's president of consumer products, recently revealed that plans are in place for a stand-alone merchandising line to be unveiled next year, which will be, "presumably supported by another big budget franchise movie in 2015."

The Hulk has a unique cinematic history over the past decade. Ang Lee's 2003 Hulk didn't exactly set the world on fire at the box office, which lead to Louis Leterrier's The Incredible Hulk reboot in 2008. Even though The Incredible Hulk fared much better, both critically and financially, than Hulk, Marvel still replaced Edward Norton with Mark Ruffalo in Marvel's The Avengers.

Don't be surprised to hear more about this project in the near future, once the box office receipts for Marvel's The Avengers start to roll in.

Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

I dunno about this next Hulk movie and what they'll do, but I love reading the support of Ruffalo :)

Another reboot of the Hulk? This is overkill. Just continue where The Incredible Hulk left off but with Ruffalo.

I'm kind of bummed that Norton didn't play Hulk - what an awesome addition to the cast, and can you imagine the to-and-fro between him and Downey Jr? Wow. But Ruffalo was great. As men trying to keep a lid on intense rage least it wreck the world, they're both different but just as good.

This is great news! I'm a bit of a continuity Nazi myself and was resisting Mark Ruffalo all the way 'till the end. When Avengers was over, I was thinking "Edward who?" Ruffalo is easily the best Banner yet and I hope he sticks to the role! Maybe it'll be a prequel to Avengers and just wipe out The Incredible Hulk?

@SpaceCowboy Why would Ruffalo not be in it? Firstly, he's signed a 7 or 10 picture deal with the studio - Id assume at least half of those would be Avenger-related stuff, and secondly - with The Avengers now out, it would be ludicrous to have another actor step in to play the Hulk and then have Ruffalo play him in any Avenger movies.

Doubt Ruffalo would be in it. Why wreck the streak of using a different actor for each Hulk. For all we know the next Banner could be Adrien Broden. Would that be so unlikely? *sigh* No, it really wouldn't.

    @narrator Can't say it better...
I enjoyed both films. TIH was a continuation of HULK, with out acknowledged nor saying stuff about the HULK. Think about it. HULK ended with him in South America. TIH starts with him in South America. But I do not see them making a Hulk movie to appeal to the broad audience. HULK and TIH showed that. Well, atleast with that kind of PG writing. Whedon may do it justice, but he will be to busy no doubt for Avengers 2:Thanos's War.... >:)

I don't think there will be a reboot and besides I enjoyed the first two Hulk films, continuing the story line should be on their list to do.

Wake up guys, this is a misleading title with pure speculation on behalf of Movieweb. At no point did anyone say there would be a reboot.

In fact, well probably get another Hulk movie with Mark Ruffalo before 2015.

  21. the Narrator

Hulk and Banner was well written for what little time they got in The Avengers. If they were to take that wit, humor, and even embrace of anger into a continuation of the 2008 film, I'd be down.

    i agree with @SherlockHolmes2009
continue with Ruffalo, we already know his story, and even if this generation doesnt know sh*t about him, they can just watch the last 2 films with the other actors,
    mark needs no introduction.

It will be a sequel to The Incredible Hulk from 2008 for the most part. They may change some actors over besides Ruffalo. I'd like them to keep Liv Tyler, but if they change The Leader, I won't mind. And it better be The Leader.

They make it seem like 2015 is next year, Thats a long way to go. lets see.. 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.. ahhhhh I would be fine if they said spring 2014. Mark Ruffalo MUST-has to-should return as hulk..
I wont mind a reboot/remake, just as long as they get it right this time and stop replacing the guy every time, lol. I dont even know any villains in the hulk other than an army.

i don't think a reboot will be needed here. i think a continuation of his story will be better. that way they can bring more of his villains in. instead of starting again with a back story everyone knows.
