Melanie Styrder is a 21 year old human, who was captured by a Soul named Wanderer. Melanie survives Wanderer's implantation into her body, and resists the Soul's control as best she can. She likes the feeling of being physically strong and berates Wanderer for neglecting to keep her that way. She has a temper and may be considered volatile compared to docile Wanderer. Melanie is passionately in love with another human, Jared Howe, and shares a strong bond with her younger brother, Jamie. It is clear from their relationship and previous interactions that their years on the run made her extremely parental. Despite initial anger at Wanderer for stealing her life, they eventually become unwilling allies, and finally develop friendship and a bond that mirrors a sister's.
The Host was released March 29th, 2013 and stars Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Diane Kruger, William Hurt, Rachel Roberts, Stephen Rider, Emily Browning, Jake Abel. The film is directed by Andrew Niccol.

@ROFLitschristian Actually, it's the marketing behind this film to blame...and who made it. The book is actually a very dark, intriguing, and original science-fiction concept. I read the book before even knowing who Meyer and Twilight was...and to this day I think it was an excellent read.
But yeah, whoever made the movie totally f*cked up.

I am totally, why wouldn't I be? it's Stephanie Meyer yeah but I'm pretty sure all guys who hated the Twilight movies will like this better, I assure you there will be copycat movie series in the future hell, we have a ton of them coming out this year: Beautiful Creatures, The Host, Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Hunger Games: Catching Fire
