Executives close to the project said that Warner Bros. is now likely to release the first film at the end of 2012, and not at the end of 2011 as had been hoped for by the fans.
"While it is still possible that it could come out in December 2011, it looks more likely to be 2012," an executive close to the film told WaxWord.

The Hobbit Sequel would now hit theaters sometime in 2013.
UPDATE: (12/7/09 11 AM PST)Collider spoke with Peter Jackson over the weekend and Jackson denied the rumor that the film will be released a year later, saying a 2011 release is still being planned for The Hobbit
Do you know the two years you guys are aiming for with The Hobbit to come out.
Jackson: Nothing has changed as far as I am concerned. Somebody wrote something on the internet and a lot of nonsense happened. You don't want to believe everything you read on the internet. We were due to deliver the scripts and be shooting sometime around April and now I think I said in an interview we were shooting in June. And somehow people are now saying the film is delayed. As far as I am aware, they are not delayed at all. I am not even sure when we are going to start shooting...we are delivering the scripts just after Christmas they'll be finished and we'll be shooting as soon as we possibly can. But you need a certain amount of time to finish the pre-production.
So you believe in December 2011 the first part is going to be in theaters.
Jackson: At this stage, that is certainly the plan. Yeah.

The Hobbit: There and Back Again comes to theaters December 13th, 2013 and stars Ron Perlman, Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, Doug Jones, Kiran Shah, Billy Connolly.

I am not lying. If someone else gives reason then I dont need to and I say I agree. I am 90% always either saying why it sucks, agreeing with someone, or something ofd the sort. Whereas you pretty much always say it so bluntly. Like you know it will suck for you so it must be a crappy movie.
and don't lesson me on hypocrisy. Your comments run wild with them. Like your punctuation comment below. "..your missing a f*cking comma". You posts are definitely not grammar perfect either Newkill. Few people do on this site. I don't even. But see right there a hypocrisy and I didn't even have to turn pages. :)

Fallen, with facts or not, your still a hypocrite, dude, for calling people out for that. Besides, admit it. You don't back up everything. If you say you do, then your a liar.

I really wish they would stop messing around with the movie's release date
its like having to do script re-writes before and during production

To me 2008 was a slow drag since anticipation for TDK was so high, whereas this year that same anticipatory spirit didn't really seem present for this summer's blockbusters. Hence why 2009 seems to be going by at a quick pace. Point being, that 2012 may be here before we know it. Hell, I remember talk of "Iron Man 2" {5/7/10} last year being almost like yesterday, so yeah, until the trailers debut, then time should flyby.

Q: How does a 2 month setback turn into a year long delay you may ask?
A: Simple, they'd miss Oscar season and would hold it back later...like other films of late.

Newkill I have, but I have had facts to back it and given examples. I don't say it bluntly and barely ever do I say it will fail before theres even pictures etc. Like I said, just give examples to show your not just hating.

In all seriousness, I wonder if the "2012 Panic" will do anything toward movie sales? Lets face it, there are more than enough morons out there to cause a panic over nothing (Y2K anyone?) and you can bet your ass its going to happen for 2012. If The Hobbit is released in December of 2012, I wonder if it will have a negative impact on its ticket sales due to people hiding in their basements in fear of the end of the world. I personally think it's all ridiculous and will be at the movies first chance I get but I cant vouch for all the Mayan "prophecy" fearing religious zealots of the world. I guess only time will tell.

Does anyone else think it's ridiculous they're making two films for the one book? I wasn't surprised when I discovered the Harry Potter movie series was doing that with the last novel (nothing surprises me anymore with what the Harry Potter movie series will do to destroy the books) but this? This comes to me as a hilarious shock.

Newkill thats a very blunt and "stupid" comment. Saying a movie sucks before seeing ANYTHING on it. Lol. And I know you don't like Lotr (I cant see how thats possible), but hey thats cool. But saying this will suck, with no backing is very "suck"y on your part. Please give detail.
