@dan1 - Ha! Yeah, tell me about it! I was anxious to see how unbelievably gorgeous she would look as an elf......but nothing. No worries, I have a feeling we'll get something with her soon enough.

.....cant wait to see her, though.

@narrator@k-man@bawnian-dexeus Bah, I just remembered something. Something the trailer was vitally lacking. It was lacking a fine ass elfed up Evangeline Lilly. Suddenly it gets downgraded from an A- to a B+ from me. Nevermind all those other gripes and concerns, gentlemen.

@dan1 - Dude, Thanks! That's the nicest comment I've ever read on a site. In fact, comments like that only makes my passion for film stronger.
And trust me, you are no dimwit....you are one of the users I admire most on this site. You're knowledgable as hell and you always throw out brilliant points that get myself (and I'm sure other users) thinking.

So any appreciation you have for my passion of films & filmmaking is coming right back at you, my friend. That's no bullsh*t.

*End of shared sentimental moment* lol

I just enjoy reading @k-man's ridiculously informed views on this project, from the technical to the story with a crazy amount of specificity. Gotta appreciate that intense passion. Really, I feel like a dimwit in comparison with some folks around here, but at the same time relish this site because of how many informed members it has, and feel smarter by just reading some people's comments. *End sentimental moment*

@narrator - If I had to guess about the separation of films within the book.....Hell, I dont know man.

    *Slight Spoilers*

You know the film has to end on a climax of some sort and we know that the climax of the second film will be The Battle of the Five Armies, followed by all the character's return. Therefore, there are many possibilities. One might think that they would end just after Smaug attacks Laketown....but that's pretty far into the book and it's just before they all go to battle. However, Peter and crew are known to switch things around, like the timeline, to make them work on screen.....so they might make Smaug's attack come sooner, perhaps?

Then there is the possibility of ending after they fight with the Spiders, which might not be a bad place to end it. But it's not long after the fight that they are imprisoned in Thranduils castle (Legolas's father)....and that would be kind of a sh*tty place to start the second.

Therefore, it's all guesses at this point. They are adding a ton of scenes that are derived from the expanded universe, not just the book, so it's possible that they end on a moment that wasn't in the book at all, like the wizard's attack on Dol Goldur, perhaps? We know for sure that those moments will be in there, so it is possible.

    I guess time will tell.

@narrator - Yeah man, Beorn is being played by Mikael Persbrandt, a Swedish actor. They also released a few set pics of Beorn's house, which looked pretty great.....you should check it out!

  19. the Narrator

@k-man, I honestly didn't catch that, so props to you! It would be interesting if they did go that route, and I'm always wondering what Jackson will choose to keep in the story, or remove from it. I've yet to hear ANY news on Beorn casting, or even ideas concerning him. I hope they didn't choose to cut him out, like other supporting characters in LotR.

Also, any thoughts on where this first entry will end in the books?

@dan1 - Very true. I think that there will be vast improvements from now until it's release.....plus they didn't even include THAT much, so its waaayyy too early to be making judgement calls.

@narrator - Well said, my friend..... Very well said. Its nice to hear someone else is noticing those more minute details.

Yes, I am picking this trailer apart like mad! In fact, I found one very cool little find. If you look at 1:58.....that creature taking a swing at Gandalf is actually not a creature at all.....its a dwarf. If you pause it, you can clearly see a long beard and big nose, just like the other dwarves. Plus, the symbols on his robes are the symbols that the dwarves use, which are square and box-like. I'm 99.9% sure that that is Thrain II aka Thorin's dad. In the extended mythology, Thrain II traveled into Mirkwood alone after wearing his father's ring (one of the seven ring's of power given to the dwarves) for an extended period of time, driving him slightly crazy and power hungry. While in Mirkwood, he was captured by the Necromancer (Sauron in different form, for those who dont know) and was imprisoned in his fortress of Dol Guldur. Gandalf was the one who found him (which makes sense for them to be having a go at each other, perhaps mistaken identity or confusion due to being imprisoned so long) and tried to set him free from the dungeons.

Very cool little easter egg in the trailer!!!

P.S. I dont want anyone to get me wrong, I think this film will be great, I just have some nitpicks that I'm not fond of.

  24. Bawnian©-Dexeus

@narrator They have a few good choices for the roles. I would have wanted Moretz for the lead role but oh well, Lawrence is good either way. Most of the other choices appeal more to the female crowed that is going to see this movie so what can I say? Nothing. I just hope it's done well and not a mirror copy

@narrator: I've gone through the First Book myself, namely because of the Theatrical release, but overall... it was a pretty well-done book.

I can't, nor want to, compare it to Meyer's work, but if you're thinking about reading the First book, I'd recommend it. That is if you're into that whole Genre of reading.

@bawnian-dexeus, in terms of the next teen/young-adult sensation? I can understand that. Lol. You had me worried there for a second. :P

What do you think of the cast for the film adaption?

    1 year agoby @narratorFlag

  27. Bawnian©-Dexeus

@narrator I only say it because up until this point everyone in the media is calling it the next twilight. So, after getting through the first book, its basically an atrocity to compare them, where HG is far better

  28. the Narrator

@bawnian-dexeus, haha. You had me until you brought up Meyer. Lol. Even mentioning her name in regards to the books is making me question whether or not it's worth the effort.
