The Highlander Set to Be Remade

Get ready for your favorite immortal back on the silver screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Summitt Entertainment has acquired the rights to the 1986 feature film The Highlander for a brand new remake. Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have signed on the write the remake.

The Highlander starred Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery and spawned a franchise that included four film sequels and three television series.

Summitt acquired the rights from Davis/Panzer Productions and Peter Davis, one of the original producers on the first film, will produce the remake as well.

No production schedule was announced.

    my thoughts exactly Phat. couldnt have said it better. i didnt get into this Highlander thing much, but i heard all the sequels were terrible. isnt their motto or catch phrase "there can only be one highlander"?
    so why do we get like 5 sequels and a remake?

    The first one was good imo.It was one of the movies i grew up watching.It's hard to remake a movie with sean connery.I think the best thing a new movie would do is with the sword fighting.Action is done a lot better nowadays.

    Well this isn't a shocker at all, I'm a fan of the movies and TV series. The only way this works is if they don't completely destroy previous story, meaning if your going to start over, then don't sh*t on whats already been made by acting like it was never made.
    The 2nd Highlander film wasn't an actual sequel the first one.

    well doesnt suprise me, hollywood loves to remake everything under the sun, but highlander wasnt that good to begin with. the 4 films, if watch together dont even really fit together, there are more plot holes than swiss cheese slices. Damn hollywood and damn remakes, Im really really getting sick and tired of all the remakes. some are good I will admitt, but most suck the souls out of people.
