At the press junket for Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Rogen revealed that due to Stephen Chow's influence, he and Goldberg are now once again open to making any aspect of The Green Hornet funny, including the action sequences.
Rogen said:
Me and Evan [Goldberg] talk a lot of shit. We have one rule when writing, and that's don't get attached to anything. One day we want to make a serious film and then Stephen Chow comes in with a good idea and we're like, 'Well it's funny.' Should we not do it because we originally wanted to do a serious film? We come from, nah fuck it, we'll just take the idea that seems good. So it's definitely less serious than a serious film, that's for sure. We want the action... I say now that we want the action to play serious but Stephen could come in tomorrow and say 'You know what? I want to throw you 400 feet in the air!' and I'd go, 'OK, that sounds cool.'
We're very open now. Right now is when we're in the process of deciding what this movie is going to be on a practical level. The story is the same; we've always known the story we wanted to tell, so it's easy within that to discuss the various sensibilities and reality levels and humor levels and stuff like that. To us, we hoped the director would come in and give us lots of ideas and directions to work with, and that's what he's doing.

Stephen Chow will direct the film from a script written by Rogen and Goldberg. Rogen will star as Britt Reid/The Green Hornet, and Chow will co-star as Kato. Expect to see The Green Hornet on June 25, 2010.
The Green Hornet was released January 14th, 2011 and stars Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Cameron Diaz, Tom Wilkinson, Christoph Waltz, David Harbour, Edward James Olmos, Jamie Harris. The film is directed by Michel Gondry.

you people seem to not realise that Chow is an awesome drirector and writer. Shaolin Soccer and Kung fu Hustle were amazing movies and hilarious. you mix him with comedy golden boy of the moment (Rogan) and you have a very good action packed comedy.
what is wrong with that?

there is supposed to be a sequel or a cross between superbad and pineapple express charectors.

I love Seth Rogen but I thought Pineapple Express was overrated. I hope The Green Hornet will be good though.

Look, they didn't say it was going from an action to a comedy you stupid f*ckers. They just said that with Chow involved, there will be some more levity to the action, but not a complete reverse polarization to a slapstick bacchanalia. I'm expecting more of a dry wit for this, with only a little bit of over-the-top stuff.
So quit being twats about a movie they haven't even started shooting yet, It's not like Bret Rattner or Mark Steven Johnson are directing it.

oh people people, come on, don't think that seth is gonna make a good super hero with the fat in him, come on, the green hornet is supposed to be a hero not to make fun of hero. plz, we surely don't want superhero movie the sequel.
JR, I loved seth in pineapple express if that's what you're trying to refer too, and yes he is a great actor, A REALLY GREAT ACTOR, but I just don't see him as the green hornet, he should be the red hornet, but the green one, no way. LOL.

Vamp
JR, if you COULD overpower a vampire like me, then you'd make me a very cranky and belligerent one at that. I don't like him, and if I got a part in one of his movies, I'd CONSIDER it, look over the plot, see if I liked it, or felt it, and if I didn't I'd say no thank you, and walk away. Even IF I don't like him, I'm not about to be rude to someone of celebrity status. lolz.

First lets start with Seth Rogen, I do not think he is a super hero type, second Green Hornet a comedy? Give me a break, I will not be seeing it.

I think they're confusing cheesy for comedic. When you look at old tv shows, they come off as funny only because it was that day and age. Look at the lone ranger. I occasionally watch the old black and white show with my dad, and the way it comes across might be comedic, but u have to look at the time...or maybe they just want it to be comedic for the unique value, as comrade said. Either way, my expectations for this film were just lowered completely

No matter what, I think this will work in their hands. At the very least, it will be something original and unique.
