Director Edward Zwick drops out of The Great Wall
Back in June, we reported that The Great Wall's production schedule had shifted from a fall start to spring 2013. Today, we have word that director Edward Zwick has left the project.

The shooting schedule was bumped up due to the weather conditions in China and New Zealand, and because funding still had not been fully secured. Legendary East, an off-shoot of Legendary Pictures, is still planning to move forward next spring, even though a replacement director has not been named yet.

Henry Cavill and Benjamin Walker are attached to star in this drama, that delves into the mystery behind the Great Wall of China's construction. Our report from June also revealed that there will be supernatural elements at play, with the wall being built to keep out invading Mongols and a deadly, inhuman force.

Marshall Herskovitz wrote the screenplay based off an idea by Max Brooks and Legendary Pictures executive Thomas Tull.

The Great Wall comes to theaters in 2013 and stars Henry Cavill, Benjamin Walker. The film is directed by Edward Zwick.

I am sure @narrator will agree with me that you just let one of the greatest directors and the perfect choice for this film walk away due to your poor planning... Morons...
