Walt Disney Pictures has secured the rights to Neil Gaiman's award-winning novel The Graveyard Book, with Gil Netter attached to produce.

The Newberry Award-winning novel was published in 2008, and has attracted numerous Hollywood suitors since then. The author originally sold the rights to the U.K. special effects house Framestore, although the rights are now controlled by a company called Wayfare. Neil Jordan was once attached to direct and write the screenplay adaptation, but it isn't known if he is still involved.

The book puts a spooky spin on Rudyard Kipling's heralded novel The Jungle Book, which centered on a young boy raised by wolves. This tale revolves around a boy who is raised by ghosts in a graveyard, after his family was murdered.

No writer or director has been attached to this adaptation as of yet.

The Graveyard Book comes to theaters in 2014. The film is directed by Ron Howard.
