Ricky Gervais may host the Golden Globes again
Here's what he had to say when asked if he is contemplating the network's offer.
"I am but I shouldn't do it. It's a second encore. Don't do a second encore. I don't think I should do it. What am I going back as?"
He also defended his performance as Golden Globes emcee, where he made jokes about Charlie Sheen, The Tourist, and thanked God for making him an atheist.
"Just because you are offended doesn't mean you are right. People fall into this myth that I'm a shock comedian. I've never been that. People say I crossed the line but I didn't draw the fucking line, you did. It wasn't a roomful of wounded soldiers. It was the most privileged people on the planet who spend all day pretending to be someone else. I teased them, I ribbed them."
Ricky Gervais also revealed that ABC has asked him to host The Academy Awards next year. Although he said he would never accept the job, an ABC spokesperson said an offer was never made to Ricky Gervais.

I didn't watch the whole thing -what I saw was OK. I still really like Ricky Garvais as a comedian - I thought he might be an annoying and upcoming-Brit, but I released he was much more than that after I watched "Ghost Town", loved that movie.

@mbrandon11 Because when @thedude-abides whether in the heat of the moment or believes to be true, called Gervais a "drunken idiot." He thinks that of Gervais, but doesn't know it to be true. Ergo, it is an opinion of the man. Dude thinks Ricky is an idiot. A drunken idiot. Opinion. That's all. You on the otherhand, have just shown your true colors, and the real reason that you are upset. You're a Brit, and so your taking offense to something said about your fellow countryman. Again, you attacked Dude when he didn't say ANYTHING TO OR ABOUT YOU (see, everyone can write in caps :P). Just because you want to ride Gervais's dick doesn't mean you have to get upset when someone says something negative about him. Get over yourself.

@mbrandon11 Chill out, dude. You're taking this too seriously. I called him a drunken idiot because he was drinking all throughout the show. He obviously wasn't drunk. I was overstating that FACT to illustrate my OPINION.
What makes poking fun at the rich and famous entertaining is because they are just people. Making fun of Charlie Sheen for hooking up with prostitutes, or Mel Gibson for getting caught screaming at his wife for how she's dressed, or David Hasselhoff's daughter filming him drunk trying to take a bite of a hamburger is funny because it shows that, as far as their personal lives are concerned, they're no different from you and me.
Here's why calling out their work is out of line. If you were at a banquet for outstanding achievement in your work, and the evening's host made it a point to call you out by saying you didn't deserve to be there in front of all your colleagues, that's out of line, and you would be offended. They didn't invite themselves. They were invited. For someone whose career highlight is The Invention of Lying to say Johnny Freakin' Depp doesn't deserve to be sitting in a room of actors for achievement in his work, that's not only over the line, it brings a certain validity to my drunken idiot comment. There's clearly a difference between the two. I'm sorry if you fail to understand that, just don't call me a twat because of it.

It was such an imature comment it is laughable. Private lives should NEVER be touched on unless in interviews etc but an actors performance HAS to be judged at award shows. There's nothing stupid about my comment. Like yours, it's a point of view. Unlike yours, it's a well-informed and well-written point of view. I said him making fun of them for their personal lives is funny -- which was the same point you "tried" to make with your comment. My point was that Depp and Angelina didn't nominate themselves for their performances in The Tourist. The Globes nominated them to boost ratings. That's a fact.
In regard to Gervais, pointing out the obvious in a comedic way is one thing, using the bully pulpit to spew drunken vitriol over the crowd because of your own shortcomings is another. I think the fact that he's coming back clearly illustrates his desire to have that opportunity once again. There's really no other reason for him to return aside from that point. And another thing, "prey" is spelled "pray." I'm tired of stupid f*ckin' people on this site who can't comprehend the depth of my comments. Get some perspective before you try and get on the level of someone clearly smarter than you are are.
