Warner Bros. has added another actor to its growing cast of The Gangster Squad, with Lights Out star Holt McCallany signing on.

The actor will play a bodyguard to Sean Penn's gangster character Mickey Cohen. The cast also includes Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Giovanni Ribisi, Michael Peña, and Anthony Mackie.

Ruben Fleischer (30 Minutes or Less, Zombieland) is directing The Gangster Squad from a screenplay by Will Beall, a former LAPD officer. The story centers around an elite unit of the Los Angeles Police Department who were tasked with pushing East Coast crime elements out of the City of Angels in the late 1940s.

Production is currently scheduled to begin on September 7, although a release date has not been determined yet.

Gangster Squad was released January 11th, 2013 and stars Sean Penn, Holt McCallany, Wade Williams, James Hébert, Ambyr Childers, Josh Brolin, Mick Betancourt, Mac Brandt. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer.
