Marc Guggenheim discusses The Flash
"It's very similar for the whole reason we went with Hal for the Green Lantern. That's the Silver Age character. That's the character people grew up on. That's the name first associated with that character. So part of it is honoring the legacy aspect, and the other aspect is just practical - you can go forward, but you can't really go backward. You can't start with Kyle Rayner, and then do a movie with Hal Jordan.
Just from a practical standpoint, I feel it's better to go in a linear, generational fashion than it is to double back - which is not to say that Kyle and Wally aren't phenomenal versions of the character. They are, and they are near and dear to my heart. We just have to get up to them."

Marc Guggenheim also hinted at a "rogues gallery" presence in The Flash, although Chunk will not appear in this first movie:
"Flash has a spectacular rogues gallery. You know it's funny, because we've been trying to come up with a good joke about the cast. Let's see... You won't see Chunk in it. We're saving Chunk for the sequel. [Laughs]"
When pressed for further details on the rogues gallery, he refused to say which characters we would see. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further details on The Flash as soon as we have more information.
The Flash is in development .

okay, I know this is probably going to sound a little weird, but Flash doesn't have to be some big built dude. I don't think B Cooper is a bad choice for The Flash, just for the Barry version of the Flash. But here's my suggestion... What about Jared Leto? A serious Actor who can do humor, but it's dry humor like Barry's when he did use humor in the comics. Cooper, Reynolds, Hemsworth, all these guys look the same. Ultimately, I'd love to see a JL movie, and for that, we need actor's that can work very well in any kind of movie, not just in the title characters main flick. Just an idea...

The Narrator: The Better Man
@Flash, I know who Allen is. I'm a decent sized Flash fan. Cooper can be serious when he wishes, and I believe with the right preparation he can balance the slight humor he's given, with the responsibility and weight of being a detective/hero. Hell, from what I've see from GL, Cooper might be a better choice for Flash than Reynolds was for Jordon, since Reynolds still seems to have his own iconic charisma going on. Cooper doesn't carry his joker-self in all of his films, so he'd fill the role a lot better/simpler, and adapt with the character appropriately. Who would you want to play Barry?

And I actually believe, since there's not much they can really do to escape making The Flash a bad movie, considering GL looks like sh*t, they should just make flash vs. the rogues... f*ck yes. the original rogues and flash going at it in movie 1. And movie 2 bring in reverse flash.

Chris Pine would play a pretty good Barry Allen. I can totally see that.

Cooper can't be The Flash!?! especially not Barry Allen! . Barry Allen is kind of the serious type of hero like Superman, he's not a guy who cracks jokes like Wally... Bradly Cooper is not the right casting choice for being Barry at all. Cast someone better for the role, also guys before saying cast Cooper try checking who Barry Allen is... Its one thing to miss up the casting but its another thing to disrespect the original character.

"I heard that the writers were influenced by the horror movie seven when writing the script. That doesn't sound good to me."
Barry Allen was a forensic scientist, kinda like CSI. So that sounds like they're playing up the scientist/detective role of him if it's influenced by Seven. Sounds good to me.

IT's only appropriate to go with the original. Agreed, sign Cooper folks.

lol @Diaigma
@Buriblazing: Ryan Reynolds would've been better for the Wally West version of Flash. And since he's already done/doing Deadpool and Green Lantern, it kind of works out this way. 3 major comic book franchises is a LOT for any one actor to handle.

It'll be interesting to see which villain(s) will be used. I'm glad they're going with Barry.
