Wow, Bale lost a lot of weight for this flick...maybe he'll get his Oscar nom. with this one. Looks pretty good.

Well... as redone as it is, it seems to have heart and character, and seems to be a lot less glamorous than other inspiring movies. I'll see it for Bales acting first and foremost.. and of course Adams body, and Whalbergs fist fights.

Can't believe I'm saying this but @soylentgreenmonkey exactly what you said. Looks pretty good and I think this is gonna be a good chance for Bale to either get an oscar or at least a nomination

i say keep representing Boston! THey (and Matt Damon) are to Boston what Woody Allen and Spike Lee are to New York, Eminem is to Detroit and Wilford Brimley is to old people and Florida. as long as the projects are solid i'm all about them!
@Diaigma - agreed (i was thinking the same thing), but i think Million Dollar Baby won b/c of the whole controversial euthanasia debate it became about (over sports) and Rocky because it was so different than any other sports flick (underdog losing was huge). Russell Crowe's turn as boxer Braddock with a similar story during depression (also directed by Academy darling Ron Howard) "Cinderella Man" only garnered 3 noms and 0 wins (of course it wasn't all that good either simply b/c it was so formula and cliche). so we'll see how this one does...

Here's my problem with this: The entire story arch of the movie is revealed in the trailer.
And Bale being a "shapeshifter" doesn't automatically translate into Oscar success. Granted, I do think he will be nominated for BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR, hopefully with the award going to Joseph Gordon Levitt for his role in Inception.
By the way, this looks like Invincible part 2, and can Mark Wahlberg and Ben Affleck get back to doing sh*t that doens't revolve around Boston, please!

Not usually, @Rufio - but Million Dollar Baby and Rocky comes to mind . . .
Adams and Bale? - sold. Wahlberg? - hmm . . .

oscar bait....
dang good oscar bait, but the Academy is not usually big into sports/underdog stories. that being said, this looks amazing and whether or not it's nominated i can't wait to see this!!!! (and i'm with @darksektor1971 - Bale is a shapeshifter... every time you look he looks different and is pullin' in a different role! hopefully he'll have "Oscar-Nominated/Winner" above his name on a poster too, after this flick).

Great cast, great trailer but a horrible poster. Bale is just a really talented actor and this looks like another great performance.

I know this is about Micky Ward and his relationship with his brother early in his professional life but there's no Arturo Gatti in the film?

FIGHTING WITH BATS & THE EX-RAPPER- This does look a nice little picture, Oscar worthy for Christian Bale by the looks of it. However, I am not a fan of Marky Mark or his "I'm bad, just look at me" expressions on his face all the time. Going back to Bale, he's not good at handling the spotlight so he turns that into anger. He's private and Walhberg is more of the opposite, he would hog all the spotlight if he were half the actor that Bale is. Still got to see "The Machinist"! Fighting and waiting to hear more film trailer insighting!

K-Man
@Cripple - His dedication *almost* makes up for being a complete *sshole.
"No, dont just be sorry, think for one f*cking second! I want you off the f*cking set! You and me, we're done professionally, man!!!" - Christian Bale

Bale's dedication is inspiring. There are only a handful of actors who have or would do what he has done even once.

No he is not really losing his hair, that's all makeup. Come on guys, its the movies!
And yes, nobody, especially Bale considering he's already done it several times before, should constantly lose then gain weight and then do it all over again! SO friggin bad for your body, I'm surprised they allowed him to do it again.

I thought doctors said that Christian Bale should stop losing and gaining weight between movies. That sh*t can almost be deadly.

He should've been nominated for The Machinist, but wouldn't have won that year... Jamie Foxx did an awesome job as Ray that year.
