The Fighter Sweeps Blu-ray and DVD Sales Charts

The Fighter DVD Paramount's boxing drama The Fighter had no trouble knocking out its home video competition last week, taking the top spot on Blu-ray sales, DVD sales and DVD rental charts.

Barbie: A Fairy Secret took second place in DVD sales with Hereafter taking third place with The Switch finishing in fourth place. Last week's top DVD seller, Jackass 3, dropped to sixth place on the sales charts, behind Megamind in fifth place.

The Fighter topped the rental charts, largely because Paramount doesn't enforce a 28-day delay on Netflix and Redbox for new releases. The Switch took second place in rentals, although Hereafter took 19th place since Warner Bros. imposes the 28-day delay for Netflix and Redbox.

The Fighter rounded out the home video sweep with a win on the Blu-ray sales charts. A healthy 40% of The Fighter's total sales came in the high-definition format. Hereafter took third place in BD sales with The Switch finishing in seventh place in 1080p sales.

The Fighter was released December 10th, 2010 and stars Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, Dendrie Taylor, Jack McGee, Jenna Lamia, Bianca Hunter. The film is directed by David O. Russell.
