Back in January, actor-writer Sylvester Stallone confirmed his action sequel The Expendables 2 was aiming for a PG-13 rating, which enraged fans of the R-rated original. Sylvester Stallone has now changed his mind, instead confirming they are bringing an R rating to this action-packed sequel.

Here's what Sylvester Stallone had to say below.

"After taking in all the odd rumors and hearsay, Expendables 2 is an R."


It's odd that Sylvester Stallone refers to the PG-13 news as "rumors and hearsay," since he confirmed the PG-13 rating himself in a previous interview. The first we heard about The Expendables 2 getting a PG-13 ratings was from an interview with Chuck Norris, who said he forced the filmmakers to cut out all of the foul language because he doesn't do R rated movies.

The Expendables 2 doesn't hit theaters until August, which means there is plenty of time to cut and shape the film the way Sylvester Stallone and his creative crew see fit. The MPAA hasn't handed out any official rating for The Expendables 2 at this time.

The Expendables 2 was released August 17th, 2012 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film is directed by Simon West.

    @shuabert Freedom of opinion, yes there are times when movies come out that the masses can agree are horrible. But one can't just insult a group of people for paying money to see a movie simply because one did not enjoy it. People have different tastes

    @youngrizo Numbers do tell a different story: that people are dumb enough to give their money for a movie that will probably be awful. This is a common problem. That Meet the Spartans can be number one at the box office while almost no one went to see Drive or Warrior says a lot about movie audiences en masse.

    That's why I like to pay attention to the numbers, they always tell a different story, for instance, Transformers as widely hated as it was, was also widely loved and that's why DOTM went on to make over a billion dollars even after we all lambasted Revenge of The Fallen.

    @youngrizo That was my question. If you go back and look at the response to Expendables on this site, many of the users hated it and counted it as one of the year's worst films. I heard the same response from people I knew who saw the movie. Of course there were people who liked it. Just, in my experience they seemed to be a minority.

    By who's estimation? cause last I checked, the first movie did very well, and I and every person I know liked this movie... even the people I know who don't really like action movies... also if no one liked it, why are there so many people who are getting invested in this one?

    R rated, okay, but I guess they did the PG thingy to keep Norris from walking from the first one. Once he finds out it's rated R he'll walk off.

    i think people forget that the expendables movies ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CHEESY ACTION MOVIES dedicated to all the ones like that in the 80's and 90's. sly has said that plenty of times yet the number 1 reason i see people complain about expendables is cause of that
