The Expendables 2 Wants Bruce Willis as Its Super Villain

Bruce Willis wanted as The Expendables 2 Super Villain
After spending two weekends at the top of the box office charts, and a third weekend that should push The Expendables pretty close to $100 million, it's a no-brainer that creator Sylvester Stallone would jump right into making The Expendables 2 as quickly as possible. If the writer/director/actor/action icon had it his way, we'd be seeing this sequel in August of next year. Like Lionsgate's Saw, this is a serialized franchise that could potentially happen every mid-August weekend until audiences got tired of it, or the actors were simply too old to lift a machine gun. Though, most likely, we won't be seeing The Expendables 2 until summer of 2012.

From the very start, Sylvester Stallone always envisioned this title as a trilogy, at the very least. As we know from 2006's Rocky Balboa, the sixth film in that series, and 2008's Rambo, the fourth, Sylvester Stallone doesn't mind taking a character beyond three films if the story is a solid one. And it seems that he has a pretty solid story lined up for The Expendables 2. In talking with Sylvester Stallone at Comic-Con, the actor made it clear that his rough team of mercenaries would return with new faces in the group, as well as his quasi-hit country song "Drinkenstein" from Rhinestone playing on a Jukebox somewhere in the background.

Possible hopefuls for the sequel include Fred Ward, Michael Ironside, Michael Dudikoff, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Shô Kosugi, and perhaps a reunion with his Tango & Cash co-star Kurt Russell. There has also been far away talk that he might not forget the ladies this time out, adding Cynthia Rothrock and Michelle Yeoh into the mix. But that's all far away speculation at this point in time.

It was announced yesterday that Sylvester Stallone had finally set up his official Twitter account, which you can also follow by checking out Sylvester Stallone's People Page here on our site. After being on it less than a day, the legendary icon has already started to converse about what exactly it is he wants to do with the sequel. The biggest news is that he hopes and plans to bring Bruce Willis, who had a very limited amount of screen time in the original, back in a more substantial role. This time out, Bruce Willis will be starring as The Expendables 2's super villain. Sylvester Stallone also hinted that he may bring (spoiler alert for those who have not seen it yet!) Steve Austin back from the dead, and that he is mulling over a specific shooting location which may include "Afgan, Iran, or Milan", as he hopes to set this sequel in one of the most dangerous places in the world.

Here is what Sylvester Stallone tweeted about Bruce Willis:

"Had dinner with Bruce Willis last night. I want him in The Expendables 2 as a super villain. What do you think?"

You can tell Sylvester Stallone exactly what you think about this, as well as other aspects of the sequel, by visiting his Twitter account, or by checking him out here. We'll have more news on The Expendables 2 as it breaks.

The Expendables was released August 13th, 2010 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Eric Roberts, Randy Couture, Steve Austin, David Zayas. The film is directed by Sylvester Stallone.

The Expendables 2 comes to theaters August 17th, 2012 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Liam Hemsworth, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Jet Li. The film is directed by Simon West.

I agree with so many of the posts. I think that if we are talking 80/90's action stars/actors you need to include Carl Weathers, Hulk Hogan, Phillip Rhee, and Wesley Snipes (just keep Snipe's shots in the U.S.). Eastwood and Norris would be awesome but don't see it happening. I do like silntbutvilnt new guy point but you got to include Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper.

Yup and how about a villain team of Travolta & Cage (face/off), Ford & Jackie (try), McConaughey (Reign of Fire), Butler (The Gamer), Washington (Man on Fire), Caviezel (Dejavu), Kilmer and the leader Willis. lol

,why does it have to be old school guys? I mean Statham isnt old school, Jets not that old school, well he is kind of old but u know what im sayin. There are plenty of newer guys that could make up the roster, Dwayne Johnson, Hugh Jackman, Gerard Butler, Jude law( i know but look at Repoman), christian bale, will smith, matt damon, mark wahlberg, rain(ninja assassin), sam worthington, and quinton jackson to name a few lol. one old school cameo i would like to see is either norris or eastwood. i think if segal were in it, it would have to be just a cameo, that dude is way to fat and too old to get back in shape.

wonder if Van Damme had a rematch with Gary The Brit Daniels in the first one! He lost to a real kick boxing match years ago...

Wish Brandon Lee was still alive. God bless his soul! It would be a great comeback since he have worked with Lundgren in Showdown in Little Tokyo!

People, another set of actors to consider: Ray Park, Antonio Banderas, Luke Goss, Ron Perlman, Mark Dacascos, Michael Jai White, Powers Booth, James Woods. At least every one gets a team :)

Norris, Van Damme, Seagal, Russell, Snipes - if they wont come maybe the ones below would :)

Thomas Ian Griffith (Excessive Force), Jeff Speakman (The Perfect Weapon), Michael Dudikoff (American NInja), Jeff Wincott (Marshall Law), Cynthia Rothrock (come on everyone knows her eespecially her scorpion kick).

Throw in more Asian action stars to compliment Jet Li... Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and of course Jackie hehehe just my two cents

Brainstorm; Sean Connery or Bond's main nemisis "Jaws"; I don't know the star's name from the 80's Bond franchise as the "Supervillain" or in Connery's case "Superbrain" behind the badguys!!

Still not sold on Willis as the bad guy; but to be honest it would be cool to see how he does as a bad guy. I haven't seen "Perfect Stranger" but I will now that I know he plays a bad guy just to see how he does.

Chuck Norris, Kurt Russell, Van Damme; have to be apart of it if a sequel does happen that would ROCK!! Talk about an 80's reunion. Willis as the bad guy?? Nah, Michael Ironside and Ving Rhames would be better.
