Nu Image, one of the production companies behind the sequel, released an early synopsis on its official website recently. Take a look at the plot description below, which indicates that one of the Expendables is getting killed off.

They're not the only ones who want blood. Tool's beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and The Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity."
The Expendables 2 was released August 17th, 2012 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film is directed by Simon West.

Yup, I agree, TKS wasn't as great as I thought it would be but it was VERY solid and you really can't make anything ground breaking with a true life story. You can make an amazing film experimentation with person's life story is, to me, a no no.
And please, don't get me wrong. The Expendables had MAJOR issues but since I knew it wasn't going to be little jumbled to begin with it didn't bother me to much.
I believe Stone is an awesome director, though you did lose a bit of camera direction in The Expendables but Balboa, Rocky and First Blood were great movies. Had everything you needed to make a solid movie.
I'm not saying that The Expendables was flawless just saying that I had fun and damn it, that's what movies are about! =)

@messenger, I'm pretty sure that the majority of the film buffs in the world judge films exactly the same way as you do. The only thing that ever differs is the persons expectations.
Sure, Stallone is no fantastic director or handler of stories (look at his latest Rambo). However, I did expect more effort from a Stallone film than a paper thin plot, an unnecessary side-story, well coordinated but altogether unnecessary fight scenes. It wasn't been paced right so I couldn't enjoy the unnecessary barrage of action near the films climax. as for The Kings Speech, it was a good film for its genre, but highly overrated, with little to present the audience with other than a dramatic retelling of a mans struggle with his pronunciation. Going into movies, expecting one thing and judging it on that is fine, but I choose to judge films on their potential, and if one approaches it, or at least goes out swinging, I commend it. However, films that don't put that effort forth just take up space because they're not doing anything to change the industry. They're just repeating what's previously been shown and usually, has been shunned as well, and you wonder why they set out to do that at all, aside from them money.

I hear you, man. I enjoyed the first one not because of it's great story, I enjoyed it because it entertained the hell out of me. I tend to know what type of movie I'm going to go see and then if that movie doesn't live up to or excel for what type of movie it is then I'll probably won't like it.
I just watched The King's Speech and I liked it because it hit all the right spots for a movie of that genre. Was it mind boggling or somewhat original, no but I liked it for solid story, writing and acting which is what I was expecting from it.

Aww that sux, theyre gonna kill off Rourke, i thought his character was good and ateast the most emotional in the film, when hes telling the story of the woman on the bridge he didnt save....

@messenger, I wouldn't burn those types of films because I don't watch those types of films. The kind of film that foreign markets eat up, but western markets tend to spit out in a short period of time. The type of film that's highly unorganized, and whose plot is incoherent or scarcely there. Yeah, I wouldn't burn those films, because with the information provided, I usually tend to steer clear of unnecessary mimics. The Expendables had a big gimmick, and that was its cast, but I won't fall for that again. The keys on a piano may only number to 88, but most films of this specific type of action genre only utilize the same 5 or so over and over again. Yeah, you could say I'm slightly biased towards these types of films, not for lack of originality, but for lack of progress or attempts of trying.

If you burned ever copy of every movie that had to deal with revenge then you'd burning for a loooong time. They're 88 keys on a piano, it's all in how you play them.

Keep Tool alive & kill off Randy Couture instead because his acting sucks & his character was lame. If they did that it wouldn't have the same effect because Tool was a good character & Toll Road(Randy Couture) wasn't.

Hmm whos going to play the daughter? Also why does this plot feel like its been used b4. I suggest a rewrite before naming this plot. Also they should see if they can fit Wesley Snipes in this movie since he couldn't make the last movie.

Yeah this is kind of too early to spoil anything, but still a pretty solid story line. I wonder who will play his daughter, I also wonder what other new stars will be in the movie(obviously besides, the recently reported Jaun Claude Van Damme, I bet he'll probably play as the dictator). I hope to see Vin Diesal and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in future Expendables sequels.
