The Expendables 2 Gets PG-13 Rating Because of Chuck Norris

Lionsgate is currently working to release The Expendables 2 this summer, which adds genre icon Chuck Norris to an already-legendary lineup of action stars.

While talking about his participation in the project, Chuck Norris dropped a bombshell, saying that he forced the filmmakers to cut out all the foul language. This is to insure that The Expendables 2 will get a PG-13 rating, and that the younger kids will be able to see it.

Here's what he had to say.

"In The Expendables 2, it had a lot of hard language in there, that would prevent a lot of young people from going to see it. I said, I don't do movies like that. I didn't do them in the past, I didn't do them on my TV series. I said, if you can't cut out all the language, hardcore language, I can't do it. So they did, and they made it a PG-13 film, so kids can go see it."

While we won't hear any naughty words, it seems we do get to see Chuck Norris saving the lives of this star-studded cast throughout The Expendables 2.

"I just finished The Expendables 2. That was a fun movie to do because I keep saving their lives throughout the whole movie, so I'm like the superhero against (Arnold) Schwarzenegger, (Sylvester) Stallone, and Bruce Willis."

The Expendables 2 comes to theaters August 17th, 2012 and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Liam Hemsworth, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Jet Li. The film is directed by Simon West.

I can't believe no one is pointing out the blatant hypocrisy in Chuck Norris having a problem with exposing children to words they hear every day, yet no problem exposing them to graphic violence.

This is why the British find the Americans so strange. It's fine to watch heads exploding and entrails pouring out, but woe to any film in which a set of breasts are exposed.

Dear Sly. Please don't make the film PG-13. Please don't consider the rantings and pleading of a true hack actor for whom can't even cut ("Cough" Cutter ) on straight to video. ~Your Fan.

Why does Chump Norris feel the need to turn a great action franchise into something more appropriate for the politically correct cry babies of america? It's NOT a movie for children. It's a movie for the grown ups while the kids are busy watching Micky, Sponge Bob and the Power Rangers. If it were intended for children then it would have the cast of the Care Bears or the Muppets... which are right in the very NEXT THEATER. Remember what happened when ROBOCOP 3 went PG-13? Mmm... Hmm... NO ONE SAW IT AND IT SUCKED. Go back to your ranch and sit back on your old man porch, Butthole and dream of better days of working with your hack brother Arron on all those movies he ruined. Such as HIT MAN which could've been pretty awesome. Oh' and by the way... We all know you've dozens of rated R movies. Hitman, Missing In Action 1, 2 & 3, Lone Wolf McQuaid and Silent Rage. We've all seen you swear and we've all seen you commit violence in your movies YOU F@#KING LIAR !!!!!!!!!!!! ...and HYPOCRITE!!!!!

@thedude1 - Dude, I could not care less about the cussing. The movie could have no swearing at all for all I care. It's the violence which pisses me off. We all know that now the violence is going to have to be toned down and it is going to pack less of a punch then the first film did.

@ben-greene The most absurd thing I have heard all day. Norris never mentions the blood and the action. Which tells me that it still may get a R rating. Anyway I hope you as just as mad at Stallone because he wanted Norris in the movie. If this was such a big problem Stallone would not have accept his terms.

I hope Chuck Norris dies in this movie. That way there when they make the third (You know its gonna happen), they can go back to the R-rated roots. Unless this makes loads of money due to the PG-13 rating and they wanna pull that off again. Who knows? Maybe Chuck will come around the R rating and realize he's being a dumbass. This isn't a kids movie, you fool.

@shuabert makes a great point about Die Hard 4.

Eh, I wasn't all that excited when they announced Norris in the first place. He's so overrated. Why is he calling the shots? Why the f*ck would he agree to sign onto a film, in which he knew would contain R-rated material (He must have read the script and knew before they started filming)

Now that the production is wrapping up and everyone is getting happy with the project, he decides to come out of nowhere and declare the film to cut out all the language? What? Why did you even sign on in the first place, Chuck? Why?

Oh...my...God. Seriously? We get a Playschool version because Chuck Norris doesn't like swear words??? To get the rating he wants they'd also have to cut out all the impressive gore and violence that helped make the first one harder-hitting than expected. Chuck Norris sucks. He's just helped damage a film that should have been for grown-ups.

@moviemaniac66 But also ask yourself is over the top cussing a good thing? Of course it is not.

Frankly Norris probably only wanted no hard language and he thinks that can get it a PG-13 rating. Since he has been gone for many years that alone won't cut it anymore and in the end if it is rated R for violence then I'm sure he would be quite okay with it.

Ok Chuck I respect you, but the film can still be Rated R even if you cut out some foul language. I just hope the action isn't dumb down to a pg-13 type movie.

Sorry guys, this is a kids a movie. All '80s/'90s action films were. They were cheesy, ridiculously over the top, and lacked intelligence. Bullets + Explosions + Ripped Action Stars = Box Office Gold. Granted not every film like that sucked, like "Die Hard" for instance. Great movie, but also over the top employing a lot of AML to pull it off, as all of these films do. So the rating doesn't change anything as the first film wasn't all that violent either. Notice how Chuck only requested the profanity be cut which affected the rating, not the action.
