The Evil Dead plot synopsis and story details revealed
The official synopsis sounds exactly like the original film.
"Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival."
Bloody Disgusting has discovered that this initial trip to the cabin is motivated by something quite different than what was seen in the original.
"The 'new spin' is the motivation behind the trip, with the lead character taking his younger sister to the family's cabin to help her kick her drug addiction. Without her drugs she becomes insane and difficult to control, which makes it impossible to see that she's actually possessed."
As reported, the Deadites are unleashed when one of the friends deciphers the Book of the Dead and reads portions of it aloud. As reported last month, Bruce Campbell will not appear as Ash in the remake, though he is on board as a producer.
The Evil Dead comes to theaters April 12th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore. The film is directed by Federico Alvarez.

Just disrespectful. "impossible to see whether she's actually possessed?" That's just stupid. There was never supposed to be a psychological angle to Evil Dead; one that made you question the reality of the situation. It was balls-out demon-swatting fun. Leave the pretentions at the door and just let the remake be a remake. Better yet, how about Hollywood get its grubby fingers off of The Evil Dead and NOT do a remake. You can remake Let the Right One In, you can remake Oldboy, but you CANNOT remake The Evil Dead. F*ck this noise.

Not sure what to think of this: Don't like the idea of doing a remake, but love the fact that Diablo Cody is writing it since she's great at doing screenplays...hmm, it's a double edged sword :/
