Actress Lily Collins is in final negotiations to join The Evil Dead remake for Ghost House Pictures and director Federico Alvarez.

The story centers on five friends who journey up to a remote cabin where they discover the Book of the Dead, and unwittingly unleash demonic forces. We reported in October that one of the characters goes on the trip into the woods to try and kick her drug habit. Lily Collins will play Mia, the drug addict who doesn't take well to her newfound sobriety.

Federico Alvarez is directing from a script he co-wrote with Rodolfo Sayagues, which Diablo Cody revised. Sam Raimi will produce alongside original The Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell and Robert G. Tapert for Ghost House Pictures. Sony Pictures and FilmDistrict are teaming up to distribute the remake.

Production is scheduled to begin this March in New Zealand.

The Evil Dead comes to theaters April 12th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore. The film is directed by Federico Alvarez.
