Federico Alvarez to direct The Evil Dead reboot
Federico Alvarez, called Freddy by his friends and associated, is best known for his 5 minute short Panic Attack!, which features giant robots attacking Montevideo. He will make The Evil Dead for Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures and Mandate.
Apparently, Sam Raimi is in the Detroit, Michigan area with Federico Alvarez, hoping to cast The Evil Dead before he embarks on his own directorial endeavor Oz: The Great and Powerful. It has been rumored that Ash, an iconic character personified by the great Bruce Campbell, may be cast as a female in this adaptation.
Over the weekend, Bruce Campbell had this to say about the reboot.
"Believe in the remake, dog! The project is real. In the works. Cool as hell. Scary as hell."
Evil Dead was released April 5th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore, Phoenix Connolly, Jim McLarty, Sian Davis. The film is directed by Fede Alvarez.

Nono no no nonono! I know the originals are old and cheese-tastic but damnit they were some of my favorite films when i was in Jr High! I watched the repeatedly (along with George Romero's original 3).
I have a bad feeling about this. Like
@dan1 said, the cheesiness is what made these movies classics. Now i like Ghost House Pictures but they have some pretty bad stuff out. I dont know what to think. I guess i will give it time and see.

@thedude-abides Yeah, but the cheesiness of the original movies were part of the fun :P. I loved those movies, all 3 of them.
If Bruce comes onboard with this one, I'll put my support behind it. If not, eh....

The effects are so bad in the first one, I wouldn't be totally against seeing a remake. However, I do believe that's what gives the original part of its cult epicness, and whatever kind of film they make probably won't touch the original.

Why not just simply for crying Pete f*cking sake, just make a Evil Dead IV entitled 'Evil Dead 4: Hail To The King'
I've already devised a treatment continuing where Evil Dead 3 left off
