The Evil Dead remake moves forward at Ghost House Pictures
Sam Raimi and original producing partners Robert G. Tapert and Bruce Campbell will serve as producers. Ghost House Pictures partners Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane will executive produce. Nicole Brown and J.R. Young will oversee the project for Ghost House. Lionsgate will handle international sales on the film.
The three producing partners commented, "We are committed to making this movie and are inspired by the enduring popularity and enthusiasm for The Evil Dead series. We can't wait to scare a new generation of moviegoers using filmmaking techniques that were not available to us thirty years ago as well as Federico Alvarez bringing a fresh eye to the film's original elements."
Sam Raimi wrote, directed and, along with Robert G. Tapert and Bruce Campbell, produced the original horror classic The Evil Dead that tells the story of five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist's tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival. The Evil Dead spawned a franchise with the equally successful installments Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn and Army Of Darkness.
The Evil Dead comes to theaters April 12th, 2013 and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore. The film is directed by Federico Alvarez.

IF we take into account, Evil Dead was a corny movie, that thrived on being over the top bad cult classic, then a remake could be good..... Could... But NO>>>>>>>>>>>!!!!! Bruce Campbell is this movie. HAIL TO THE KING, and dont kill a cult classic...

Other then that, no f*cking way. It'll be a revolt if someone like Channing Tatum gets the role. BLAH!!

I could only think of one actor that might, JUST might, get by with us 'Evil Dead' fans playing the role of Ash, and I'd have to say that it would probably have to be Ryan Reynolds. Maybe he would be an acceptable actor for the role.

had this discussion the other day about a different movie franchise. I feel that if you are a "fan" of a certain genre, director, writer, cartoon series turned movie, etc... Then you should be excited and hopefully optimistic about news relating to that specific genre, director, etc... I am always disappointed to see these supposed fans chime in with the negatives regarding something they claim to be a fan of... especially when its as early in the process as this bit of news is.
as for me, I am totally on board. Raimi and Campbell are great and look to be going about this the right way. Hope it all works out because i am a fan of the EvilDead movies, SamRaimi as a director and Bruce Campbell as an actor.

You know what's going to happen? Aside from it being a disappointment, no one--not a single thing living entity on this planet--can replace Bruce Campbell as Ash. It just can't happen. He IS Ash. I cannot imagine how awful it's going to be when the newest, hippest flavor of the month is chosen to depict him. Can you imagine, "This summer, witness the rebirth of fear! As Zach Effron goes toe-to-toe with Deadites! Costarring Juston Bieber, the entire cast of GLEE and the voice of Ashton Kutcher as the raping tree!"
Ugh... Hell has frozen over.

actually in a way i guess evil dead 2 was spose to be kinda seen as a first and second one, in a weird way. so ppl who didnt see the first one were caught up without having to put the ppl who saw the 1st one through it again. But yes i do agree bout this not needing a remake, but i kinda think as long as bruce and raimi are involved in it somehow, and im sure they both know this should be done carefully, it may not dissapoint any fans

I just love how in Dead by Dawn Bruce returns to the cabin where his friends died with his new girlfriend, just classic. Army of Darkness was hilarious - one my all time favorite movies. With that said I really dont think this needs a remake in any way shape or form.

I think 'The Evil Dead' is the best out of the trilogy. I liked Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn. Army Of Darkness I felt was really silly, but yet funny, like that one too.

Nowadays all of our beloved horror classics are being remade. Christs sake. This better be a decent remake. If not, then that will prove to us that the future of horror remakes will be hated failures.
