The Eagle rises from 2nd-Century Britain, where celebrated Roman soldier Marcus Aquila (Channing Tatum of Fighting and The Dilemma) embarks on a dangerous quest to restore the tarnished reputation of his legion commander father - and find the golden emblem that disappeared with his father and thousands of troops 20 years earlier. But the highlands of Caledonia are a savage wilderness and Marcus must rely on his embittered slave, Esca (Jamie Bell of Jumper), to navigate the perilous region. Donald Sutherland (Pride & Prejudice) and Mark Strong (Kick-Ass) co-star in Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald's (State of Play) epic journey that takes audiences beyond the boundaries of loyalty and betrayal, friendship and hatred, and deceit and heroism.
