The Do-Deca Pentathlon gets picked up by Fox Searchlight
The Do-Deca-Pentathlon is the hilarious story of two grown brothers who rekindle their uber-competitive childhood sporting event, The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, over a weekend family reunion in order to finally determine the ultimate winner. When the rest of the family is disrupted by the fierce competition of their unfinished business, the brothers must hide their efforts in order to complete the event... once and for all.
"Almost 20 years ago, Fox Searchlight redefined how the world came to see independent film. Now, on the brink of the digital revolution, we couldn't be happier to partner with them on their new initiative with Red Flag to further redefine how to get smaller, innovative films out into the world," say Jay and Mark Duplass.
"We formed a great relationship with Jay and Mark on Cyrus and are excited to be partnering with them again," said Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Nancy Utley and Steve Gilula.
"We've wanted to work with Mark and Jay for a long time, and are thrilled to be distributing The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, which is vintage Duplass," said RFR's Paul Federbush.
Jay and Mark Duplass wrote and directed the upcoming Jeff Who Lives at Home, starring Jason Segel, Ed Helms, and Susan Sarandon, the 2010 poignant Sundance hit Cyrus as well as The Puffy Chair (2008) and The Puffy Chair (2005), which helped define the mumblecore genre and won the Emerging Vision Award at the SXSW Film Festival.
The Do-Deca-Pentathlon was released July 6th, 2012 and stars Mark Kelly, Steve Zissis, Jennifer Lafleur, Julie Vorus, Brendan Robinson, Brock Patrick Kaufman, Noël Wells, Blake Blacksmith. The film is directed by Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass.
