The Day the Earth Stood Still Reshoots Not Happening

UPDATED: We just received word from Fox that The Day the Earth Stood Still reshoots are not actually happening. They explained that there were no reshoots. Only two days of small pick ups, with most of that being plate shots that were always scheduled, in order to complete some of the special effects work that are needed.

Here is the original story:

Our friends over at IESB have alerted us to the fact that the production team working on Fox's remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still are back at work in Downey, California conducting reshoots. According to their sources, both Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly have been called back to redo some scenes.

IESB's source indicates that the reshoots will last for one week, and that they are rather "extensive". It has been speculated that these reshoots may be taking place to accommodate the just announced IMAX release of the film.

IESB's Robert Sanchez is on the case, and is currently working hard to find out if director Scott Derrickson will be directing these reshoots, or if a second unit director is jumping in. The Day the Earth Stood Still is still set to be release on December 12th, 2008, in both conventional theaters and in IMAX.

The Day the Earth Stood Still was released December 12th, 2008 and stars Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, Jaden Smith, John Cleese, Jon Hamm, Kyle Chandler, Robert Knepper. The film is directed by Scott Derrickson.
