Javier Bardem close to landing the Roland Deschain role in The Dark Tower
Javier Bardem was first offered the role back in late January.
The Dark Tower is the first in a seven-novel series by Stephen King which follows the nomadic Roland Deschain, who seeks out The Dark Tower in a last-chance effort to save the world.
Ron Howard will direct The Dark Tower from an adapted screenplay by Akiva Goldsman. Ron Howard and Akiva Goldsman will also direct and write the first installment of the NBC TV series that will form a bridge between The Dark Tower and the movie sequel.
Production will start on The Dark Tower in September.
The Dark Tower is in development . The film is directed by Ron Howard.

Mortensen I can see. Craig . . . he has enough going on. Besides, they've had their spot. I'd rather see new talent assuming iconic roles. Can you imagine if they went ahead with that other guy as Han Solo? It just wouldn't be the same :P

Well, he's a good actor, but not for this. I was really vouching for Daniel Craig or Viggo Mortensen but I could be wrong, so I'll just wait and see. btw @diaigma diggin the new avatar!

At first i was a little iffy on Bardem playing the part but the more i think about it the more i think he IS Roland. Cant wait to see how this all turns out. Howard better put a little more heart in this than he has his last few films if they really plan to make this thing as epic as they seem to want.
